It is a proven fact that Russia uses bots to succesfully influence American and European elections. And it works very well, and more and more countries are starting to be governed by far-right, extremist people. This sort of bot activity is present on youtube, tiktok facebook, instagram, reddit, and in the following years we are going to have to live with the consequences of it.

The question is, do you think anything will be done in the future to stop this from happening? Or was that just it and this is the world we live in now.

It's an established political term that has existed for ages. Grassroots campaigns are built on real people taking action for their community, astroturfing is when somebody wealthy, powerful or a political party uses money or influence to start a movement that looks like it's grassroots/community driven, but is rooted in a fake platform aka astroturfing.

astroturfing

/ˈastrōˌtərfiNG/

noun

the deceptive practice of presenting an orchestrated marketing or public relations campaign in the guise of unsolicited comments from members of the public.

This term is extremely old.

Canada is next I'm afraid.

The fact that we (not me ) are falling for it probably says more about our country than it does about the countries who do it.

Perhaps implementing a system similar to South Korea where creating an account on many social media platforms requires your ID and a mobile phone number.

With the intelligence demonstrated here you would be the first to fall for them sis. Astroturfing is a term invented in 1985. Surely even your ignorant self was alive by then

Bring back shaming people for being stupid online on purpose
