She said it before on a red carpet interview and I thought her PR team would have taught her after that disaster and not rebroadcast that statement on national TV

She found it average at best. Most of the songs were OK for her, none of them wowed her. She gave it a C-

Her favorite tracks are Born Again, FUTW, Moonlit Floor, Lifestyle, Chill

Also "im a dancer" then where the **** are those dance videos to YOUR songs?

Like are amateurs working for her or whats the deal?

You can learn the Rockstar choreo 2 hours before the shoot but you can't practice a new choreo for 2 weeks and slay it like theres no tomorrow for your Album drop?

Gosh I absolutely LOATHE squandered potential like that

I was like damn, is this snl sketch making fun of pop singers. This is likely what happens with most singers behind the door but to go on tv to admit it 

 

Also her real persona and her music persona doesn't match at all. She is sweet, honest, shy.... not the baddie they have been selling. 

They should have focused on booking performances instead of interviews, she clearly isn't ready for.

can't believe I'm saying this but maybe she got her own label way too soon

 

Expected a bit more. Rockstar and New Woman are def the stand outs.

honestly.. bp got big from their dance videos (especially hylt). money was a dance vid and is her biggest hit.

we shouldve gotten dance videos for each single but instead we got moonlit floor and her walking around linking arms in born again

she shouldve performed FUTW on jimmy kimmel instead of that interview.

i don't think the dissonance between her art and personality are that much of an issue, i don't expect her to serve bubbly pop since she's done well in her role in BP.

but yes really highlighting her performances would have been a better strategy. That victoria's secret stage was probably the best thing out of the era so far.

yeah there was absolutely no reason to have your own startup when you have 0 experience promoting solo in the US. rose was smart and focused on the music over playing CEO. 

at least we love her in The White Lotus

 

Alter Ego isn't even a bad album. a tracklisting rearrangement, concept redo, and a different release strategy is probably all it needed.

The singles being the only digestable part of this  at least she has The White LaLotus going for her

the way LALISA would've been a great album title for this if it wasn't used for her debut already

I really think Lisa should've invested in creating vinyls for each variant, not the standard kpop photo books Americans most likely don't care about.

 

Who really wants to collect all 5 to make a star like some Penguin Publishing collection?

What she shouldve done is invest into a concept that takes longer than 20 min to think about and actually develop a proper concept and execution instead of "speedy is an alter ego that likes fast cars and speed".

You're not wrong sis   her SEA stans kept trying to convince me Alter Ego was the most innovative concept ever along with her venturing into the comic book industry but it must feel like such a slap in the face to admit it was a product of a 20 minute conversation.

She needs western PR training. Some of the things she has been saying do not fly in the western pop world, the western pop world dgaf about 'idols', they care about ARTISTS. 

rockstar made us think this was going to be her motomami...

should she focus on her dancing/performance next era? yes

but i still like the album and hope the backlash wont discourage her for the next album

Badgrrrl is the most original song on the album after Rockstar und New Woman.

 

They shouldve pushed it during album release with a sickening video. Its giving MIA meets Gwen Stefani. Its really good imho.

There is nothing wrong with the album,  it's just bad timing for the release. She should have released the album last year, at the time she released Rockstar.  She waited and released the album with its 5th single. 

Yup the 2nd verse of badgalriri is the best part of the album 

still a great album just a very VERY messy rollout and she really shouldn't have performed at the oscars tbh

I might be delusional but I *think* HYBE might be on a PR mission against Lisa again 

 

what do you mean pitchfork review was written by a Korean man who is a known BP hater and HYBE sympathizer?  no wonder he went all in with his remarks 

 

the album lacks depth but does every album needs to be intricate to be interesting and worth releasing? it's an album that's meant to make you feel like a baddie, not perfect and Lisa and her team need to work on a lot of things, but it's not as half as bad as some reviews paint it… also, she doesn't deserve the amount of hate that's pouring on her rn
