It's heavily a synthpop album and she is a pop artist, imo.

Probably because it's a way less competitive field than pop, especially this year.

I think his label just submitted in pop because it was mainstream radio hit, that's also where Take Me to Church was submitted 10 years ago as well.

Best New Artist submissions always crack me up. So many votes for Sabrina Carpenter, Tyla, Addison Rae, PinkPantheress, Doechii...all past nominees.

I mean the actual Grammys nominates "new" artists who debuted years earlier all the time.
