Jesy Nelson - "Cried Out" & "Potential"

Featured Replies

"Cried Out" was supposed to be her second single (and even has a music video filmed) in 2022, but then she released "Bad Things" and it was shelved.

Both are pretty decent, but unfortunately she's just not a good singer. Terrible breath control, pitchy, unpleasant tone and constantly sounds like she's straining her voice.

You can dislike her but calling her a bad singer is a joke…

She won a talent show, all four are incredibly talented. It sounds like you just don't like her tone.

Love these songs, Cried Out gives me a Doja vibe.

Potential is very LM5/Camilla.

I don't even dislike her, but neither her or Leigh-Anne are good singers. There's a reason they were put in a group.

Even in these songs Jesy is gasping for air, missing notes, when she attempts to sing falsetto it sounds so airy like she's really struggling to hit the notes. You can tell her voice has declined a lot since she was in Little Mix (and it was even starting to show in the Confetti era), probably because of her poor technique. She was good at doing the raspy low notes in the group but she doesn't have the range for these songs.

We need a proper Jesy comeback, Mine did decent and lbh she carried the song. People don't hate HATE her like mixers pretend they do.

those sound goood, fit well with boyz and comfortable

i only stumbled across of a version of cried out with instrumental verse 2, is there a full version?

Edited by alexaalto

oh I thought these were going to be the rest of the Zion Foster songs

I can't believe she staged her second comeback on the back of a shaky relationship that went south before they could even get out a second song... but it is for the best

both are miles better than anything Leigh and the blonde one have released

i would agree but given the very limited content we have, it's difficult to make a conclusion on her voice either way. Boyz live was okay and she wasn't a weak link for LM live either. is a voice weak if nobody heard it?

I mean I heard lots of tea that she's been in LA working on music so I hope she does come back in some way (her Emancipation is coming)!!!

Sad these songs are probably locked with Polydor... Boyz was messy, but Jesy still has everything to be a decent pop girl

I don't get why people despise her so much, the majority of the criticism stems from her change in appearance, and before that it just stemmed from her natural appearance. Sure she pulled a Geri but so did Zayn, he smacked his mother in law, this woman takes a spray tan to the nth degree because she's so insecure sings a bit of rnb because that's what inspires her and it's a literal ******* witch hunt.  Where's the be kind brigade there? Both songs are good, I hope she puts out a full body of work soon, at the ned of the day - she's (a young girl from Essex - that just wanted to make music) - the downvotes, vitriol, and general outrage by her doing anything is really tedious atp. Bad Thing also really was one foo the most important visuals from any pop girl at the time and the message was lost in the general pisstaking.

Oh you snapped, I agree with every single word :clap3::clap3::clap3:

Cried Out is solid, but the fact that it was considered a potential second single highlights that she didn't have the material to make it big, regardless of the hate train. It's a good song, but it's definitely a fan favorite album track, not a top 10 single.

I'd still like to hear the album. Whatever she has is probably more to my liking than Leigh's and Perrie's material

snippet of Heartbreak Hotel is floating around also, ohhh how beautiful it sounds:jonnyknife:
