Advice for Normani

Featured Replies

Normani released her debut album Dopamine and then pulled a disappearing act. Considering the delays, personal struggles, and label issues she's faced, what advice would you give the Love Lies, Wild Side,  and Motivation hitmaker?

Get a regular job bcus being a popstar ain't it for her

Keep releasing music (at least singles and droplets) at a steady pace, do low budget videos and small performances, ideally some collabs with mid-sized RnB artists, carve out a musical niche and loyal fanbase for herself.

keep your fans entertained before they all switch to k-pop full time

Let's start with releasing the multiple music videos that have been filmed :bibliahh: and stop saying that you don't like half the songs on your album.

I think Dopamine set the right path for her. Her focus should be on releasing good material first and foremost. Everything can go wrong but if the music is good that alone will speak for itself. There are many ways to success, maybe she doesn't need to be that kind of successful.

Just keep doing your thing gurl, remain active and consistent with it and you'll find your place.

This might be the worst advice you could give her because, if it were up to her, she'd probably be saying "soon" about the second album for the next twenty years.

Does Normani even want to carry on being a singer? Dopamine rollout seemed like she wanted to fulfill her contractual obligations and nothing more. I'd be surprised if she releases music again tbh. She can make a living off brand deals and her recurrent streams for a while at least

Maybe. :dies: Clearly she shouldn't keep doing what she is doing now (aka nothing). But I meant the music is fine and Dopamine was a decent starting point. Not sure why she's so MIA right now... If it's label issues related there isn't much advice we can give to her.

Show hole again but this time release music simultaneously. The last hole showing was a wasted opportunity. All of ATRL was talking about it but didn't have anything to stream.

Has her label dropped her yet? Maybe she will be more free to release independent the music she really wants?

Enroll in some classes at your local community college.

Maybe work toward becoming a dental assistant or something.

A music career just ain't happening.

Agreed, do it the Tinashe way. She really needs to have the passion for the industry in order to stick with this though.

Finally tell her fans her heart isn't in music anymore. Now that the album obligation has been fulfilled to her label, she can focus on brand deals, maybe some hosting gigs on the side and being with her rich football player boyfriend (WAG life).
