borderline , when you're sober & Better this way are mid tempos and she sounded fantastic on them , it's so sad they were scrapped

I dont want or expect ballads from Dua. It's not her thing. She doesn't even need to do one. (Another artist that I feel like falls into the same ballpark is Zara. Her biggest draw is explosive pop songs. None of that slow ballad/midtempo stuff she has on Venus.)

I absolutely trust Dua's instinct and her ideas when it comes to Radical Optimism.

 

It is very clear she is fully involved in creative process (unlike many other artists) and she follows her vision.

 

I think she would sound amazing on a big production "james bond theme-kinda song" with heavy strings and dramatic elements, and when the time will be right, she will do that.

 

For now Im happy I love all three current singles from RO

Also people tend to forget that an underperforming album is not a bad thing persé. It's still building a catalogue, crafting an image and expanding your base. The fact that her debuts are higher from FN, that the album is likely to open with more units than FN, and the fact that her tour dates keep selling like hotcakes is a good thing. 
 

The only thing that I will say is that she better not wait another four year inbetween albums. The next album should come in 2026 or 2027 at the LATEST

I'm sure there will be midtempos on the album to aid the pacing. Cool and Pretty Please helped with that

Def don't want ballads at ALL, but Can They Hear Us is a perfect example of how good she sounds on something a little slower. Underrated song

So confused about the mixed opinions on Dua doing midtempo music when Cool is one of her top 3 songs IMO

It's just because of the extended vowel in the hook. There's zero similar elements past that

I love all of these songs dearly and wouldn't change anything about DL3/Radical Optimism 

 

But I want to hear Dua really sing! She has a beautiful voice. Maybe that is the reason I love Training Season acoustic so much because it is the closest that we will get to hear her really singing

We got Massive Attack as a reference point for the record and they are the kings of downtempo music. So in theory RO should have a couple of slower electronic songs. We heard trip hop numbers, but we're yet to hear it.

 

Dua would sound fantastic doing sophisti-pop, something like Everything But the Girl. Mixing both their styles: electronica and acoustic

 

 

 

She has the right tone for this type of music. If she's leaving the US behind past this era then it's an option, but success stans will meltdown

I'm a bit late but A BOP 

I don't get it, the song is massive bop, everyone who listens to it seems to love it 

Maybe the "sounds the same" thing is now affecting the perception of people about her music

This - her songs have gotten beyond lazy vocally, and while her voice is perfect for pop, sometimes the takes are too clean sounding, like the live version of TS at the end is a moment. We know she can belt a little more and do more with her voice

I think since Illusion is new single and she didnt perform it yet it would make sense, and then Houdini/TS Medley too

This is a good step after that terrible TS choice (idk who planned to lowkey tank the era releasing that one). Anyways, it's not too late. However, I don't see this clicking in the US, it's just not the sound America is going to f*ck with. The song is a big bop, anyways.

i don't get all the ATRL hate on this era, all 3 singles have been bops. I particularly enjoyed Illusion quite a bit x
