-Both became successful R&B stars in the 90's that went on to segway into acting.

-Both of these are their third albums.

-Both of these albums are hailed for pushing R&B forward and becoming the blueprint for what music sounds like today.

-THE RED ALBUM: Aaliyah was critically and commercially well-received upon release, charting at number two on the US Billboard 200. However, it sold diminishingly afterwards. After the album's first single "We Need a Resolution" performed moderately, Blackground and Virgin wanted a high-charting follow-up to increase the album's sales. The labels chose "Rock the Boat" after it began receiving airplay as an album cut. Aaliyah shot a music video for the song in the Bahamas, but died in a plane crash during a return flight to the US on August 25. After her death, sales of the album greatly increased and led it to the top of the Billboard 200, eventually reaching more than 13 million copies sold worldwide. Released during a period of peak activity in R&B, the album has since been cited by critics as one of the genre's best and most influential records from this era, impacting artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, and the Weeknd. After years of internal and legal conflicts between Blackground, the singer's estate, and the album's creators, Aaliyah was released to music streaming services for the first time in 2021.

-FULL MOON: The album was initially met with mixed reviews from critics, but later earned retrospective acclaim from musicians, singers, and producers, primarily for Brandy's vocal work. It debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 and atop the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling 156,000 copies in its first week, and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), selling over one million copies in the United States. Full Moon was nominated for several awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. The album spawned three singles–"What About Us?", "Full Moon" and "He Is". Since its release, Full Moon has garnered retrospective recognition from musicians, vocalists and music producers, particularly within the R&B and urban contemporary gospel genres.

aaliyah but i recently listened to full moon for the first time and i love that album, anybody is a SONG

Full Moon and it’s not even Brandy’s best because she released Afrodisiac afterwards

Ugh, this is so hard, I love both. Maybe Aaliyah because I love Rock The Boat so much.

(It did NOT sell 13 million albums though :toofunny3:)

Even though vocally Brandy is superior and Full Moon is one of my favorite R&B songs ever, Aaliyah is the better album.

It’s obvious Brandy and Darkchild were inspired by Aaliyah and Timbaland and Static Major. What About Us reminds me so much of Try Again even in the video
