Record player recommendations?

Featured Replies

I've wanted to buy some vinyls for a while now and I'm still deciding on what record player I should get.

I've been reading that 4-in-1 record players (example) are not that good because they may damage your vinyl eventually. However, I don't think I will collect vinyls like crazy or use them daily. I'll probably buy only those by my fave(s), an album I truly love or some sale I may snatch at some point. So maybe a cheap 4-in-1 vinyl record player is not a bad option for me.

I've been also thinking about getting a CD player instead because I've got tons of CDs and I keep buying them so maybe this way I could use them :lmao:

Thoughts?

Audio Technica LP60X or something similar is your best bet for a mid range player that will sound good and keep your vinyls in good shape.

I don't own one but I've heard people say to avoid suitcase/crosley type of turntables.

Imo look for a decent one or a used one if you don't want to spend a lot, maybe there's some reddit post ranking them or something. If you're gonna get one that's really bad then it's best to just stick to online streaming

i have a sony lx310, it’s pretty good! there’s also a bluetooth model which is worth a try. turntablelab has a $30 discount on it right now.

Look ebay, there are some good old stuff for less money. I have Technics brand, turntable, cd player, amplifier, really satisfied with them. All from early 90's

Only Audio Technica LP60X. It’s just perfect and I’m about to buy it myself as my very first record player. I’m not a big collector, because my goal is to have all of the Gaga’s vinyl and that’s it, I almost accomplished my goal. My good friend has this record player and that’s how I know it’s so good, I was using it many times as well. It’s not super expensive and it is easy to maintain. Buy cleaning carbon brush directly and use it before each play.

This is what I have as well

Buy some speakers and you're set. It looks sleek and the price is nice for what you're getting

I second this.

I was gifted one of those Crosley suitcase players and oh my god it was awful. Not long after, I upgraded to the Audio Technica LP60X and the quality difference was insane.

As for speakers, I just use my Sonos Five but I have heard great things about the Edifier R1280DB Bookshelf Speakers and they are reasonably priced too.

I personally don't like the Audio Technica. I'd advise you look into the U-Turn Orbit Plus. I've had mine for years without a problem. They are super customizable even after you purchase so you can upgrade the table slowly. Also their customer service is impeccable. Great value, lasting equipment, easily upgradeable :jamming:

My entire Hi-Fi stereo system is by SONY. I simply stan for the brand.
