You guys are so stuck up on technicalities  The GP doesn't care that this is a lead single, nor was Dua out of the public eye to make this seem like the beginning of a new era. Sure, we as pop fans know that she is starting her new album cycle, but Dance the Night smashed just months ago, so to the general public Houdini is yet another Dua song.

Charts in Mexico have changed since 2020, they have been saying NO to pop music and English music. In fact, there are only 4 songs in English in the whole top 200.

This is why I was worried about a Novemeber release charts are a mess… Xmas songs keep getting bigger every year they also rise sooner.

 

Also there are basically not big spots for Dua to perfom except late night shows / a small stage where Dua can’t shine as much as an award show.

Houdini keeps breaking records for being her highest chart debut in majority of countries, but she's not Taylor Swift nor Billie Eilish hence she is faceless, no fanbase driven pop artist per ATRL scientific analysis 

 

Debuts #17 in Italy. Good debut and radios are already playing it a lot.

Admittedly, the song is performing horribly in the states. I don’t remember one of her songs getting below 600k streams this early on? If so, please correct me.

Debuts at #1 in Belgium and #3 in Switzerland. Not a flop after all.

I do think a big performance would keep it afloat right now but there aren’t any options really. We will just have to see.

The song is fine, but I can't help but wish she started the roll out in 2024

The points are low due to Hot 100 restrictions Billboard themselves implemented. The chart points being low doesn’t make it easier to hit #1 or top 10 because that doesn’t make any sense. The methodology as a whole shrinks everyone’s points.

One of the major reasons artists release in November is to take advantage of awards season- EMAs, AMAs, BBMAs, MAMA, NRJ, Jingle Ball, if Dua isn’t gonna perform Houdini then what’s the point of starting the DL3 era in Nov. Radio growth is a very silly excuse…..

Shes doing the DSN rollout, only that she probably saves major promo for February/March so that the song can then explode and potentially reach #1

this don’t make a bit of sense, we expect the second single to come out in january, right? did she wants to overshadow the second single with the previous lead, like dsn/physical?

the bridge is the best part of this song. like I listen to it every time waiting for THAT moment

Since the US market is so slow to respond to music these days, I’m sure they’ll push a WW single in late January while still pushing this in the US. And then push a 3rd single WW and 2nd single US upon album release

someone help me please. I can't get this out of my head.

The fact that the U.S. store is not shipping physicals of Houdini until late February tells me that they have a plan for the song to be peaking at that time. Clearly the physicals are ready, they shipped first week in the UK. We just need to trust their process, I guess. There’s no other reason the physicals would ship that late.
