Back in 2011 Demi released Unbroken. The album experimented a little with R&B sounds, a shift from the pop rock sounds of Here We Go Again. Up until this day it's still my favorite Demi album.

 

Highlights from this album include Who's That Boy, Unbroken, Skyscraper and Give Your Heart A Break.

 

The album received a mixed response from critics. Most of the criticism went to the inclusion of the first four songs. Its Metacritic score stands at a criminally low 59/100.

 

Let's give the album some much deserved appreciation and give it a listen below.

The album overall is good even very good i still don’t understand the hate 

I really enjoy the album. It was the beginning of Demi going for a more R&B sound before going to pop which I enjoy both from her.

If they got rid of Who's That Boy and You're My Only Shorty, the album wouldn't be bad at all but those two songs are, sadly, among her worst songs ever and they lower the quality of the album. 

 

However, the highs in this album stomp on DEMI and even Confident I'd say. My Love is like a Star, GYHAB, Lightweight, Fix a Heart, For the Love of a Daughter > 

 

The 2012 dance sound has not aged well either and songs like Unbroken and Hold Up have aged badly - they are still fun and cute. 

 

The perfect Unbroken album should've been something like this:

and unpopular opinion but I love Hold Up and Mistake

Skyscraper was such a collapse when it came out - I remember virtually every celebrity tweeting about it and giving it praise, such a moving song

 

Give Your Heart a Break was such a bop and showed the GP what she's capable of and radio finally played her for once 

I think this is one of those albums that with a bit more guidance of an actual exc. producer could have been very solid.

Because the tracklist feels a bit like they threw a lot on the table and whatever stuck was chosen. That doesn't mean there isn't great stuff on there, just that it is build in a weird way.

 

Also I am curious what kind of deal Hollywood Records/Disney had with Iyaz because he wasn't popular enough for acts like Demi, Miley (read: Hannah etc.) to use him as a feature.

Also I always hated Jason as a feature on Together, something is off and even after all these years I can't put my finger on what is off about it.

 

I think Fix a Heart, Lightweight, Give Your Heart a Break, Skyscraper and For the Love of a Daughter are highlights

 

a classic to me! Fix A Heart, Give Your <3 A Break, Lightweight, Mistake, Skyscraper, Unbroken, All Night Long... so so many great songs!!!

The ballads on Unbroken are some of Demi's best, the bops are hit or miss but a lot of fun stuff either way.

59/100 seems right for me. The highs are great, but the lows are too low for me, it felt like a project of mosty good songs, but not right direction as an album
