I mostly listen to albums rather than random songs, sometimes I do playlists based on the season or a mood

I listen to full Albums and remove the Songs I don't really Like or I rearrange the Tracklist.

I used to use playlists, but now I don't organize my music anymore. I just look them up and listen to them or pull them from my recent search history on Spotify. :rip:

I don't

My playlist is very random and messy but that's the beauty of it

I need to find a way to organize music. I used to have the songs I liked in iTunes and now with Spotify I just like songs I like and listen to them on shuffle. Sometimes I create playlists.

  • I have a playlist of all my current favourite songs (its like my mix for car drives and stuff)
  • I Got playlist of just singles  (few playlists sorted by seasons, months, years etc.) - etc in spoiler (ignore the pics, i went through a denis stoff stanning stage)
Spoiler

Based on my YTT chart i've had going for 20+ years

Based on My Monthly Hottest Songs of Past 3 Decades

  • An Allday playlist (because ofcourse)
  • A Playlist of songs I'll keep on loop for streams :-*

I'm very OCD with my playlists I put way too much time into them x_x

on spotify i don't do library (like doing those 'add to library' thingy) because you could just search for the artist/album easily, but i usually add new music (if it's an album i'll add one song just as a link) to a playlist called "New Music Friday" then i'll add my favorites to several playlists, and i usually also make artists playlists and rearranged album playlists

i mostly listen to albums anyway, sometimes i make "The Essentials" playlists for artists i currently love (like Rihanna, H.E.R., Beyonce, Tinashe, etc)

on Apple Music, i add everything artists i listen to to my library (because if i don't then it won't count for lastfm) and searching on AM isn't as simple as Spotify, as for playlists i usually just do several quick playlist for songs i'm currently obsessed on (like on spotify), and i also do "The Essentials", artists playlists and rearranged album playlists just like on Spotify

and if you're asking yes i subscribe both AM and Spotify because i prefer AM but it doesn't work seamlessly on a windows laptop for when i'm working

i just add to my 'liked songs' for individual tracks and listen to albums in my recently played :deadbanana4:
can't be arsed anymore with organising playlists

- A 'current faves' playlist

- Two throwback playlists (one pre-2000s, the other from the 2000s-early 2010s where the nostalgia hits strongest)

- Year end playlists where I compile my top 100 songs from each year

- Two Eurovision playlists, one for actual ESC entries and another for national final songs

All my other playlists are either separated by genre (e.g. I have a country music playlist), language (I listen to a lot of Italian music so that has its own playlist) or artist if I listen to a lot of their music

I used to be a lot more organised with my playlists when I used iTunes, now that I switched to Spotify i'm more slack

I have playlists on spotify and in my local music player but I tend to listen to full albums unless I'm working out. Spotify isn't my main source of listening it's mostly for discovery and following other people.

Do you use Spotify or AM? I'd love to that. Can you change the artwork too?

I use MusicBee. It's a software for organizing your local music library. I have over 1TB of music, all in 320kbps, tagged, with all metadata and artwork. So Basically all I have to think about is the way to structure folders and I do the following: If it's a discography I do:

Albums -> Artist -> Album Name (Year) -> Songs.m3

If it's a random song from some playlist it's

Singles -> Songs.mp3

Then from inside the program it looks like this and it automatically scans all new music downloaded.

From there I have the option to send the music to all my devices (because they are backed up on my cloud). I love that I can chose my own artwork and artist image. I will never pay for streaming idgaf!!!

This.

I just have a giant playlist with all the songs I like. Well not all, because there are songs I would really only listen to in the context of an album so they aren't on there.
It's messy but it works for me.

Then I have like a separate playlist for Kpop and then one that's got more chill tracks for like if people are over and I want to put something on.

every month i make a playlist of new music i listen to currently, add some old songs (i'm currently obsessed with), match covers who have similar colors or just let it be. i listen to playlists organized by spoitfy.

i used to have huge itunes library but it doesn't fit in my phone anymore and songs started going 'missing' :toofunny3:

I am honestly embarassingly organized :rip:I turn my favorite albums into playlists and even use fan covers for them.

First of all I buy music instead of streaming. I feel like I'm more in control of my library this way. I simply use ITunes for that.

Each file is tagged with very basic info (artist, album, artist album, explicit tag, cover, year etc.). I don't change the order of the tracklist.  If there's a song that was released during an album cycle but was not part of the album (like Nicki's Massive Attack wasn't a part of Pink Friday) I add it manually to that album, as the next track on the tracklist, change the cover etc.

Sometimes If I don't like the official cover I change it as well either with alternative/deluxe one or good fanmade one. Everything is easy to find.

If the artist I like has a lot of guest appearances I create a separate "album" with all the features listed chronologically. (Nicki has several albums like that in my library).

When I'm doing something else and I want to have music playing in the background I just listen on shuffle. Sometimes I listen to whole albums when I'm in the mood or obssessed with particular record but most of the time when I focus on listening to music I pick a song manually. I have several thousand songs in my library so creating a playlist feels like a chore.
