Kesha‘s third studio album Rainbow (2017) and fifth studio album Gag Order (2023) mirror each other in multiple aspects:

• Both records contain a diverse musical landscape. While Rainbow features a repertoire ranging from pop songs and acoustic ballads to rock and country-inspired tracks, Gag Order leans heavily into alternative, experimental and “post-pop” (Kesha) areas.
• Both records mark a departure from Kesha‘s traditional sound. While Rainbow‘s lead single Praying was Kesha‘s first-ever ballad lead single, Gag Order‘s double lead single Fine Line/Eat The Acid displays unconventional production and spoken word-elements.
• Both records are lawsuit-inspired on a lyrical level, processing the impact of Dr. Luke‘s recently settled defamation lawsuit on Kesha. While Rainbow emphasizes hope and optimism for a better future as well as Kesha‘s personal strength, Gag Order fully embraces Kesha‘s hopelessness, despair and darkest moments.
• Both records are critically acclaimed. While Rainbow was slightly more well-received than Gag Order by professional reviewers, Gag Order performed slightly better than Rainbow in user-based ratings.

Gag Order might slightly win though.

i'm not fan of gag order, rainbow one of my favorite all the time, both of them exellent but i'm going with rainbow

Both are excellent records but Gag Order is more consistent and it is objectively the better album, Rainbow holds a very special place in my heart though

Gag Order is the better album imo. Rainbow very high quality as well.

Love them both but voted Gag Order. I love how eclectic Rainbow is and kinda sounds like a mixtape of all her favourite genres. I also think it has higher highs and every song is a moment.

 

Gag Order on the other hand is just an experience.

Rainbow & it’s not even close. Gag order is the biggest disappointment of the year. Outside of four songs the album is boring. 

I prefer Gag Order as an album but Rainbow has several of my favorite Kesha songs (Praying, LTLG, HYD, Godzilla).

Both are legitimately solid pop albums, but Rainbow reigns supreme. Her singing, the variety of the production, and the overall theme of the album is just amazing. Definitely higher highs on that one compared to Gag Order.

9 Rainbow 6 Gag Order

I think both albums are masterpieces but i enjoy Rainbow more cause is a very positive album and im someone with a colorful personality
Im not the biggest fan of Dark-Moody-Sad albums. I enjoy them so much. They can be great for trips and those vulnerable moments but theyre not my fave fave thing
 

Rainbow has higher highs and I like it better overall

 

Praying was such a moment - the fact it outdid CTTR in the USA despite peaking at #22

That would explain why it has the second highest audience score on metacritic of all time
