I can’t exactly remember what the reception to CRASH was on here, but I am off the opinion that it’s one of her weakest efforts.

 

I am normally the FIRST one to support eras that feel like pure pop MPG eras, but knowing how good Charli can be on albums like Pop 2 and HIFN, Crash felt like a mere disappointment.

 

Do you think Charli will return to the electro quality of her past albums or will she attempt at making another simple pop album?

CRASH was a great album, and for a lot of people, myself included, it was the album that took us from casual listeners to fans. Move Me is one of her best songs.

She hasn't released a good album since pop 2 but I don't think she's entirely lost it yet tbh, she has sparks of genius here and there

CRASH is amazing. lmao. She hasn't missed ONCE.

Crash is the definition of quality pop.  The girls who think it’s basic are small minded and have basic and limited taste themselves.

but just because it’s not predominately hyper pop doesn’t mean she’s pushing boundaries  and doing new things.  It’s better than HIFN

Well she never left it, but sure anyway! Crash had GEMS like Constant Repeat, Twice, and Lightning, bops like What You Think About Me and all the other bonus tracks, the severely underrated and absolutely masterful New Shapes - nobody in the universe can do pop music like Charli does.

 

Give me more of whatever Witch V Witch was, though, I'll say that. She's always strongest when she veers away from straightforward radio pop.

Crash is a fantastic album so I'm sure that won't be a problem for her

If by return to making quality pop you mean her returning to music after Crash in 2022, then yes! Her Welcum to My Island remix is flawless so I have no fears on her releases continuing her top-quality streak.

Not necessarily imo Charli shines most when shes messy and not afraid to let her songs be a little rough and edgy. I felt like CRASH was too polished

I think WYTAM might be my most played from Crash  I just love how carefree and unburdened it feels. Played it on repeat for like a whole week when I quit my last job!

Charli XCX is a genre bending pop legend, she's done the whole "Boom Clap" and "1999" thing, she'll whip out the odd generic bop to keep the girls (apparently the OP here) happy but she's got over more interesting things on her mind that those of us with taste prefer.

Crash is weirdly highly regarded by normies, many of whom frequent this site as you can tell. It’s a fun record but artistically bankrupt in the same way Chromatica is.

 

Hyperpop is basically dead at this point outside of low budget imitators attempting to mimic the style of AG/Sophie/Danny and the only successful one is Gecs. I think it’s safe to say Charli will continue to work with some of her regular collaborators but it will be much more in the in the vein of OPN or Ö.

Crash is underrated and her discog is excellent. Also getting in the studio with Robyn is v encouraging

The album was literally praised here when first released now suddenly it’s basic. 

Crash wasn't horrible, but I agree it didn't feel as strong as her other efforts, imo Pop 2 and Charli remain her best projects, but she still always releases quality even if they aren't up to par with earlier stuff.

I like WYTAM so much too. I pretty much only use the deluxe these days for the most part. HCINKWINRN is perfection too.
