Pop masterpiece 

ICONIC ERA!!

Perfect album and era, flawlessly executed. Deep cuts like Kill the Lights, Shattered Glass, Unusual You, and Mannequin are at least as good as the singles. My Baby is also a beautiful ballad given time. Every song including and often especially the deluxe is excellent.

 

The era also has many of Britney's best unreleased songs. Circus is pretty much the ultimate Britney album.Dangerous, Abroad, and Take the Bait are some of my favorite Britney songs and suggest that she was actually evolving her sound during that time more than many fans and critics admit.

 

The material is there to make a case for Circus as a progression from Blackout given the adverse circumstances she was facing at the time. Looking at the Circus era through the lens of what was happening since Blackout lends a surreal quality to everything. The Blackout and Circus eras each warrant further study through this lens. There is much more here than what first meets the eye or ear. This is master level pop.

OT: It’s grown on me a lot over the years. It still bugs me how literally all the bonus tracks are better than some of the standard. Even some of the unreleased tracks are better than what made the album (Abroad, Dangerous, Telephone, WHIPLASH!!!).

Literally no filler here Out from Under, Lace and Leather, Rock Me In, and even Mm Papi have viral potential and are frequently cited as fan favorites.

 

Circus catered to all of her vast fanbase so well that it really sounds like a playlist and not everyone likes every song, but I promise, this is certified fillerfree. She had something to prove with Circus and sold almost 10 million records when it was all over.

Phonography 

Out from under is the worst song I've ever heard. It's so corny and her vocals are so soft and weak. It belongs to a Heide Montag album. The rest of the album is amazing, lots of variety

It was so diverse and just pure unadulterated pop, without trying to follow trends or anything like that. My favorite B album.

Circus is a masterpiece

I gave us the masterpiece that is Unusual You, what a song, what a song! Overall the album is good bar 3-4 duds but the rest goes from good to excellent.
