This is for the people unironically still saying Taylor is local in 2023. What are the objective arguments showing that Taylor is supposedly still local to the US at this point of her career? Do you have actual data and numbers proving this? Or is it just because she's smashing harder in the US than some other countries and you think that is enough to call her "local" somehow?

 

Is there any genuine merit to it or it is just feelings from people still living in 2006-2010? Discuss.

I also suspect that honestly. When people call her "local" it's always drive-by posts in threads and never any in-depth arguments. That's why i want to see if anyone can bring forward REAL arguments about it instead of vague posts.

They use a dumb percentage comparison between the US sales to the sales in the rest of the world. And since her US numbers are too big, the percentage is like 70% US and 30% to the rest of the world. 

 

They are failing to understand that those 30% she pulls in the rest of the world is actually more than their faves WW, including the US.

Yeah i also noticed that. Just because Taylor's numbers are GIGANTIC in the US doesn't mean her numbers elsewhere are small.

But why are people so extremely focused on SOME European countries and are ignoring Asia/Latin America and places like Australia, the UK, etc? She's also hardly a flop in those European countries, Midnights went #1 in all those places and her albums have a lot of longevity in European charts. Folklore alone had more longevity than, let's say, Chromatica despite Gaga supposedly being more "global".

I think it's also a matter of thinking that mostly white countries are more "important" than mostly non white countries, which is why people calling her "local" are ALWAYS ignoring her massive success in places like China.

Probably because she's the least recognized name among the GP in parts of the world among her generation's MPGs... which is a separate category from pure commercial success numbers, especially in the current era where it's harder than ever to become a proper celebrity!
