On second thought, Kim Petras may be a vocalist after all. 
 

To be fair, this isn’t an easy song to deliver.

OMG! I've been trying to find the words to capture my feelings about her and this is exactly it. 

 

Her live voice is so...shrill. It's actually grating. 

 

Songs like About Damn Time and Tempo and Juice all work because it's either talk-singing or rapping. But her actual singing voice is kind of grating. The upside is that with vocal training it would sound less harsh on the ear because she "can" technically carry a note. But more often than not what comes out of her mouth is harsh sounding. 

That was a beautiful flute solo, she really is a talented instrumentalist.

Funk/Soul is her lane. She just needs more training with the vocals to sound fuller in her range. Hopefully her next album will build on some of the psychedelic funk/synth-funk potential she has
