Coming from a #1 smash all around the world, why couldn’t Smith get the same success for the follow up singles?? Was Unholy a fluke? Discuss

I’d say it was a fluke. The production is interesting but Kim and Sam aren’t stars. It was a faceless hit in a way.

Tbh unholy wasn’t  a hit thanks to sam or kim , specially kim , the gp cause the production was good in a way :giraffe:

Unholy wasn’t a fluke, it’s a perfect pop song and the Sam + Kim combo is part of why it worked.  That doesn’t mean other songs on his album are going to be as palatable to the GP or take off on TikTok.

I could see I'm Not Here To Make Friends getting carried by radio

Gonna guess it's like when Queen did the video for I Want to Break Free.

The backlash is helping Sam's profile but not the song itself. Also, Unholy is a complete earworm, whereas I'm Not Here to Make Friends isn't.

Even Unholy isn't as good, it wouldn't do anything without Tik Tok. And it certainly won't do much good for any of its artist as we have seen.

Evidently one hit song doesn’t turn around a career trajectory. All these TikTok hits are great, but I see the same fate for Bebe, Meghan, Raye etc etc :michael:

i don't like Unholy .I’m Not Here To Make Friends is much better in my opinion.

nah, raye has hits on her upcoming album, but she's an independent artist and it will hard for her to promote them :chick3: bebe is really underrated, her last album is amazing

it was released literally 4 days ago and it's contanstly going up with a new peak at 57 on the last chart (+13).

People n this forum still argue if a song is an hit or not seeing the first 2 months, in an era where longevity has became everything and you really need 2 years sometimes to say if it has been a solid hit. A song can't have big peaks but then making 600-700M in 2 years, so it's just a good hit.

Sam has several hits under their belt. They are a star, or at least a consistent hit maker. :skull:

Yes it was a fluke

Their last video is just horrendous and tasteless, too bad cause the song slaps

Tiktok hits are not sustainable and it's not a myth anymore

Look at Meghan and countless other artists who had Tiktok hits which I don't even remember :rip:
