SHINee will be safe during the HYBE acquisition, I fear. I doubt there will be the same number of solo comebacks for everybody but the group itself is clearly still holding up to their name. Key and Onew went on full tours in Japan last year where Key sold out arenas and Onew's was in high demand as well. Neither are even the most popular members and are able to hold their own and do full scale tours, which you cannot say about any other SM act right now. Compare it to EXO, where only Baekhyun and maybe Chen could ever possibly do a full tour. Kai did 4 concerts at ugly little venues in Japan that made zero noise. Onew did double the dates while selling a quarter of the albums Kai has. Here's a photo from Onew's tour date in Tokyo:

Goes to show that social media popularity doesn't always equate to actual profit and real impact. SHINee's general popularity among their stans and the kpop base will keep them around even if they aren't selling millions of albums or doing 3rd gen streams.

The girls acted like they were so shook by the disbandment and they still want to be together but at the same time, Yerin signed solo contract with other company less than a month after their disbandment. Like if they still want to be together, then they should wait together for the best offer.

gfriend's disbandment is honestly one of the most confusing things in kpop and i doubt we'll ever know the full story of why they disbanded. 

 

nu'est disbanding on the other hand however is just the usual pledis f***ery so i dont know why anyone was surprised considering after school/orange caramel faded out of existence (and still haven't officially disbanded ffs) and pristin were disbanded super quickly.

And aren't they already allowed to reclaim the GFriend trademark rights? Like GOT7 did

They don't seem to be hurrying to do it unless there are other legal issues we aren't aware of

They probably asked for high renewal fee and HYBE/ source felt like it’s not worth it as the group had three consecutive flops in 2020 (MAGO is not as well received in Korea)

But RV is already in their 9th year so they can disband anytime and it wouldn't be a surprise for anyone

the gfriend dramatics are so funny  their last single peaked at like #90 and the album around like 100k, like bfr. i still remember one stan of theirs here always dragging red velvet talking about how they would disband soon and that gfriend were safe cause their sales were "growing" (from 90k to 110k)
