In case y'all wondered about album sales, these are all the 4th gen groups who has sold 1M+ with at least 1 album so far:

Girl groups:

- aespa

- IVE

- LE SSERAFIM

- NewJeans

- GIDLE

- ITZY

Boy groups:

- SKZ

- TXT

- ENHYPEN

- ATEEZ

- The next groups I see joining the million seller club are probably TREASURE and NMIXX.

- Only SKZ and TXT have an album surpassing 2M sales among 4th gen so far.

- SKZ are the only 4th gen act to sell 3M with an album.

reactions on Twitter: "rihanna tweet ciara feud good luck ...

album sales have become such a boring discussion topic tbh

out of all the metrics, digital charts is the most fun to follow

spotify numbers are only interesting for the first two weeks, i forgot about them after that but that could be due to me not using the app

Very true. All I know is that biggest girl groups are doing over 1M and that's it. There's really not much else to it.

aespa's first physical release was literally a month before IVE debuted. :skull: Not to mention the fact that aespa has less releases than they do.

The case of who debuted before whom is a lazy measurement regardless when you have newer groups coming up much later and outselling the likes of Idle and ITZY, for example (not denouncing either) with far less seniority. So why wouldn't MYs glorify the fact that they're the strongest of the gen in that metric?

IVE debuted one year later :deadbanana4:  why are you acting like aespa didn't have a whole year to build a fandom before releasing their first mini?

Btw I didn't say it wasn't impressive, I'm just saying groups like newjeans sold 1 millions albums with their first mini right after their debut. They didn't have to wait for a whole year to achieve that.

Don't bring the iZone argument when big3 companies have groups like nmixx selling 800k albums just because JYP stans would buy anything from that company.

Each time a big group has a cb they beat the record, it's not even surprising anymore

This. Thank you.

Izone was definitely a massive advantage, where were you when Izone were breaking records & selling on par with the top 2 ggs:deadbanana4: like don’t lie, the top 4 most popular members fanbases - Sakura, Wonyoung, Yujin & Chaewon - definitely contribute A LOT to their album sales, Aespa were a fhlop the first year & made no noise.

Why are we pretending Izone members aren’t aespa/NJ seniors?

we need to praise twice as the OG organic album sellers. they were outselling every other gg and breaking snsd records. no one was touching them for years.

but nowadays everyone is touching each other, clearing 1m+ with ease, it's not even a standout phenomenon like how twice had it. it has more to do with the industry as a whole growing rather than how special the particular artist is.

At one point they cannibalized the albums market and were the only GG close to competing with BGs

As the market grew though thankfully so did their sales. It's going to be funny when in about 5 years all these monster sales begin to tank and Korea moves towards streaming. Their level of hyper-capitalism is pretty much rushing through music consumption rapidly unless they continuously incentivize fans to buy physicals

Not aespa being called now jjangspa because of their encore

The Koreans love them again :clap3:

Full aespa performance fancam by daftaengkt :jonny5:

Now we are rewriting history. Only BM tanked, and it doesn’t change the fact that Aespa was one of the most anticipated groups.
Savage had 400k preorders.
Eleven sold 200k copies the first month still less than Aespa.
Even NJ had 500,000 preorders while LSR only 400,000.

Does ITZY and Treasure are the only main 4th Gen groups who have yet to have Korean comeback this year?

I guess Mina dances better than Lisa because she’s a ballet dancer ????
Liz has proved multiple times to be a great singer, she’s always stable and hit the notes rights.

Yunjin is fine but is not touching Liz.

I mean it would be true if Lisa wasn't proficient in any dancing genre, but she's well trained in hip hop and other genres just not ballet :cm:.

Anyways IVE's songs aren't that vocally demanding except maybe I AM so yes she hits the notes but Yunjin reaches even higher notes (with support). Being stable also doesn't really have to do with vocal technique but rather stamina, so it doesn't really tell you who's the better vocalist.

Meanwhile IVE

You can like Liz more and think she's a better singer due to liking her tone and emotion better but as a vocalist Yunjin is better than her.

The aespa having a head start argument will always give me a good kii. You’d think they’s have been debuted in April 2020 too by the way you guys talk, but it was literally almost 2021 in November :deadbanana4:

She wasn't tho. She was making fun of Dara but all blinks thought she was talking about Jennie.

Like even the "flop" girls of IZone (Eunbi, Yuri) are selling ~100k for their solo albums, why are we denying that Wonyoung, Yujin, Sakura etc. are bringing the sales to the groups from the very get go? :deadbanana:

What could be more gay than "I'm sexy like Kim Kardashian"?

Yeah I don’t think ATRLers/gays want to be sexy like Kim Kardashian or cute/pretty like Ariana :ahh:

Aespa reminds me of EXO’s trajectory. They debut with a massive fandom but don’t Smash with the General public until over a year later.
