  1. Don't get me wrong, they are clearly friends and I'm sure that played a part in their meeting, but this idea that Taylor is a big inspiration to everyone that worked with Jack is a reach. I don't think Lorde or St. Vincent had "Out of the Woods" or "I Wish You Would" on their mood board when making their albums with Jack, which is evident by the fact that those albums sounded nothing like Taylor's work up until that point. If anything Melodrama was inspired by Kate Bush, Paul Simon, Florence + the Machine, David Bowie, Lana, Frank Ocean, Rihanna + all the otherpeople she actually stated that she was inspired by in interviews at the time.
  2. I have to disagree with this take. When Melodrama was in development (in 2015 mind you), Jack was not known as Taylor's go to producer, he was simply just some guy that happened to do b-sides for her, Troye Sivan and Carly Rae Jepsen. Melodrama was the first album he executive produced for another artist outside of fun./Bleachers etc. Taylor's go-to at that time was definitely Max Martin and you can see that from her single choices. Plus 1989 (especially Blank Space), had inspiration from some of the sonics of Pure Heroine.
  3. Americans acting like if they don't know him no one knows him. He got one of the highest-paid record deals of all time for a reason... Anyways, this doesn't need to be a big deal, it's an offhand comment that's not even slandering slandering Taylor at all. Some of You Need to Calm Down.
  4. I love both, but I feel like Chappell's sound on the production side for Midwest Princess had a lot of room for improvement, even though the songwriting was great. I think Good, Luck Babe shows signs of a more fully-fleshed out and polished sound for her coming in the future. Brat on the other hand feels like all the stars aligned and everything finally clicked in place for Charli. I wouldn't be surprised if Brat ends up being her magnum opus, and so for that reason I feel like Charli is a lot more deserving right now.
  5. Wow Ariana haters REALLY hate her so bad and passionately. Not saying this is necessarily OP's sister, but I've noticed there is quite a large portion of her haters that are women and have this very strong animosity towards her because of her hyper-femininity. Maybe I would understand the feeling more if I were a woman and experienced the frustrations of men and society's impossible expectations set for women which can sometimes include being a hyper feminine woman for men's sexual desires. I can be empathetic to these complex feelings and annoyances that women might have. However, since I am not a woman nor experience those feelings, when I observe it, it often reads to me as jealousy and/or internalised misogyny since they always frame her small missteps as abominations (especially the home-wrecker one since we have such little proof that this is the case).
  6. I mean we'll see but I'm not holding my breath for it by the way she's been talking about it.
  7. Not even in her Top 20 best I fear…
  8. I see this all the time at the schools I'm teaching sadly (although I'm not from US). Disengaged parents are ruining the future generations. So many children these days lack basic morals and manners, in particular young boys I have been called homophobic slurs before by male students as young as 14 for just asking them to stop playing computer games or stop watching movies during class instead of doing their classwork. Genuinely terrified for the next generation…
  9. Not all her unlistenable ones in Democrat.
  10. omg not me just realising that it reminds me of one too, but i can't think of it either
  11. #2 in Australia?!?!? I know for sure now it's a SMASHA
  12. Yeah MelOn and Genie are definitely the Top 2 in my experience. YouTube Music I would say is also not too far behind in popularity.
  13. Oh Sing Sing, you will always be my ult
  14. Is that on Spotify? Spotify is kinda a khia app over there and I'm pretty sure some BTS fans have been caught out for buying Korean phones or something like that to stream, as why the Spotify numbers are often inflated. On the two biggest apps over there MelOn and Genie she got #1 already and Jimin isn't even in the Top 100.
