Maleficient 1 vs Maleficient 2

Featured Replies

I did not like the second one much even though I was told before watching it that it's better. What about you guys?

They're both below average but the first one is a tad more on the mediocre side while the second one is outright awful.

I love the both, light hearted fun movies, the first one is better imo.

First one is a bit better

Hard to say, both were very good. I heard there was going to be a third movie if the 2nd did well enough, but I guess that was not the case.

Both good, but I will go for the first part because of that scene:

Now this is the definition of “giving the gays everything they want”

what a flawless *****

Maleficient 2. I could never finish the first one, i feel like it goes nowhere sometimes

The first one is one of Disney's most interesting live-action adaptations (to date), and quite a fascinating take on the villain to anti-hero trajectory (Cruella would be a far inferior movie if it did not have Maleficent to learn from). I also think it has some surprisingly complex undertones that older individuals can pick up on, in regards to feminism, autonomy and claiming or re-claiming it for oneself.

The second one is a Winx club x Lord of The Rings crossover that deserves to be laughed at.

I prefer the first one. The second one while still good wasn't as good as the first. However the scene when Maleficent visits the castle to have a "normal" dinner was hilarious :dies:

The first one cuz Brenton Thwaites played Prince Phillip in it :gaycat1:

There is going to be a third installment indeed. The 2nd one wasn't a flop by any means, either (it grossed almost $500M).

The first one

The second was cute but gave nothing new or exciting ir interesting to the table

Really, a third one is being planned? I thoroughly enjoyed both the first and the second part so I definitely will go watch the third movie as well!

This. :cm: Trying to turn Maleficent into a good character that was just misunderstood was a choice. :rip: They could have done so much with a darker/more mature version of these movies. The fact that the original ANIMATED film had more depth and adult themes is just... :deadbanana4:

1st one. simply because of this Oscar deserving scene

:jonny5:An actress.

OT: the first one, although the second one is really enjoyable too.

The first one was kinda dark and intriguing at times whereas the latter was straight-up garbage.

having seen both just once in theatres, upon first viewing i liked Maleficent 2 more. but will have to rewatch

The first one would've been amazing if the viewer was completely unfamiliar with the original Sleeping Beaty and Maleficent in particular.

The second one was like a super hero movie on steroids.
