That the 2009 reboot Freddy Nightmare on Elm street was actually massively successful & a second film was planned.

This is shocking because of how hard this film is hated & the backlash it received. I thought it bomb :rip:

The first Ant-Man movie was:

Almost as profitable as Batman vs. Superman, a movie featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman for the first time together.

More profitable than Days of Future Past (biggest main X-Men movie).

More profitable than The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a movie featuring the biggest and most iconic superhero of all time.

Profit:

DC's Batman v Superman: $105M

Marvel Studios' Ant-Man: $103M

Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past: $77M

Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2: $70M

A D-list character DID THAT!

King Paul Rudd his power :bird:.

A Star Is Born (2018) outgrossed Solo: A Star Wars Story despite being R rated and not having a Chinese release like Solo.

Endgame's opening weekend global boxoffice was around $1.2 billion ($1,200,000,000)

Despite the overwhelmingly negative reaction to Halloween Ends and it being available to stream on Peacock the same day it hit theaters, it has still made nearly $105 million worldwide.

Home Alone was #1 at the box office for 12 consecutive weeks, from November to February.

It stayed in the Top 5 until Easter, then stayed in the Top 10 until June. Imagine a Christmas movie still having sold out theaters in the Summer :rip:

Taylor's Cats flopped at 75M with 100M budget, while Taylor's Crawdad smashes with 140M with 24M budget.

Glitter grossed 4 million in the US and 990k internationally off of a 22 million dollar budget

Dreamworks' Rise Of The Guardians being a box office bomb, I used to think it had been huge for some reason

Gone with the Wind (1939) is still the highest-grossing film adjusted for inflation

Guess box office watchers know this but it was shocking to me

Also, JLo's Gigli made 7.3 million off of a 75.6 million dollar budget :deadbanana4:

Taylor's Cats is close to 100 million in losses by some estimations.

Rihanna's Battleship? 175 million LOST when adjusted for inflation.

Our girls should stay away from movies.

Evita grossed $141M, which is $256M with inflation. But yet the media called it a flop.

Shawn Mendes' Lyle Lyle Crocodile has grossed $72m

It wasn't so shocking because it had a huge opening weekend. It dropped like a rock after that tho.

That was Endgames 10 day total. It's still impressive the US Opening Weekend was 357 Million.

OT: A Nightmare before Christmas was initially a box office flop.( 50million WW off a 24 million budget). Box office wise the re-releases help it be more profitable.

The film's true success was Home video and DVD releases.

ASIB is R rated? :chick2:

Yes, it has dark subject matter and swearing.

Lady Gaga is a bigger box office draw than Margot Robbie.

According to Deadline Hollywood, House of Gucci had the best box office opening for a drama film since Little Women in 2019, and Forbes predicted that the film would become "by far, the most 'successful' adult-skewing non-action drama of the so-called pandemic era :clap3:

It's adjusted budget would be over 100M though. Not a smash, not a bomb, especially when you throw in home video sales  :giraffe:

Everything Everywhere All At Once legged out over 11x it's opening weekend, made 4x its budget, and became A24's first film to hit 100M worldwide :jonny5:

Sleeping Beauty initially bombed at the box office (it was too expensive) and Disney almost went bankrupt.

Sinbad and the Legend of the Seven Seas is in the top 10 of the biggest box office bombs of all time, which is shocking for me because I loved this movie as a kid :chick3:

How much would a movie have to gross today to beat it?

Janet Jackson has three consecutive #1 movies at the domestic box office, all of which she is the main character or credited in the upper echelon in an ensemble cast.

Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps is her highest grossing film with $166,339,890 WW, and she’s in almost every scene with Eddie’s many different characters.

Unfortunately, none of her movies are good even though Poetic Justice is a hood classic. :rip:

the first Paranormal Activity movie remains the most profitable movie ever released, with a production budget of around 15.000 USD and a box office gross of 193.4 million USD.
