Kim Petras' career and music quality seem to be on a steep decline. Her debut single "I Don't Want It At All" instantly captured the attention of ATRL and other gays in 2017 and she quickly built a fanbase through her consistent quality releases (notably the 'Era 1' droplets, her mixtape 'Clarity', and her Halloween project 'Turn Off The Light'). 

 

Republic Records noticed the attention she was getting and signed her in 2021. You would think moving over to a major label home to names such as Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift would be an advancement for Kim's career, but sadly nothing has been working in her favor. Since signing, the only project she's dropped was 'Sl*t Pop' which brought forth major backlash and even caused her album to get scrapped. 

 

Despite getting a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Sam Smith with "Unholy," her new solo single "If Jesus Was A Rockstar" is making absolutely no noise. The song is barely scraping 1000 TikTok videos (combined). The first day debut numbers on Spotify were 361,539 (Unholy had ~8.5 million in comparison). Her stans are completely disappointed with the new single (proof). Kim herself claims that she wants to expand her audience with "Jesus", but it seems like no audience is catching on!

she released her best material too early in her career when she had no label support. era1 and clarity are full of songs that sound like smashes and would probably do well now with tiktok promo but all her new songs sound like ****.

dr. luke is back in the game so he doesn't wanna waste good songs on her anymore and i doubt any other producer is gonna give her their best work considering her reputation.

This basically. I don’t understand why she acts like Era 1 and Clarity were **** when they were her best eras by far.

No Dr Luke, no hits I fear. 

She ruined her career signing with a major label. Never go major! However, she just got a #1 song, so....

I think whoever told her to release If Jesus Was a Rockstar needs to be fired  she shouldn't have followed up Sam Smiths #1 with this mid song.

Didnt Problmatique get leaked? Honestly it was a solid debut. Her record label didnt do her any favors.  She still has time to release something if they give her the support. Also lets not act like its so easy for a trans artist to go mainstream.

Probably because it sounds like a Teenage Dream reject. Not calling the entire Album gay but that's the only way I can see it ?

Yeah i gave up on her chile i think she fell off and we need Dr luke for hits. So she sold her soul for nothing in return and its embarrassing for us chile. The music is not hitting so were moving on to Luke's next protege

This. She should release a Greatest Hits EP with her best songs (FSN, Coconuts, Icy, IDWIAA, HTB).  Reintroduce her like a brand new artist, with the EP as a "debut".  Similar to what they did with Lizzo.

The joke is on people who think her quality declined at all (with the exception of Coconuts).  She’s always made this style of music and it never caught on with the GP.  People expecting her to smash solo need to wake up.  

She truly debuted with some of the best pop music in recent memory. Over-the-top, unapologetic and sexy-fun pop bangers that had been lacking since the late ‘000s. She lost her touch, I fear. 
 

She understandably is distancing herself from Luke to avoid backlash and it seems like without him, curating a smash hit isn’t easy. I like Jesus, I think it’s cute but it’s album track at best. She needed an Icy or Do Me-level banger. 
 

Also, if her label would’ve just not tried to fix what wasn’t broken and let her continue releasing one-off single after one-off single, it would’ve kept building hype around her, her fanbase would’ve been so satisfied, and eventually something would’ve stuck. But there’s been so many delays and so few releases that when they come, expectations are so high and they’re always a disappointment.

This is a brilliant idea honesty because i haven’t heard of her until Unholy & I’m going through her music with no clue where to start so just gave up.
