Changing the soundscape once again by releasing two ballads in a sea of house and dance music 

I don't hold out much hope for a soundtrack song but excited to hear her voice on something fresh again. 

 

Hopefully it's in the vein of Angel (by the weeknd), God made you beautiful (beyonce)

there's obviously nothing wrong with ballads, it's just that these are new after YEARS, so bops are expected. She should've curated the whole soundtrack.

And with Rihanna's ear, it may have been better that the very strong Kendrick soundtrack.. but I guess she did not want to return with an album that isn't hers

He's made some dated stuff recently but he did make some points on Renaissance. We will all be streaming anyways.

but she does have a number of beautiful ones under her belt, so i'm not gonna do too much on her

how? Kendrick is more of an album artist than she is. Most OSTs dont have more than 1-2 singles.
