You got it all wrong, Elton and his partner asked her and she did it because he's her favorite. It's not like certain of her peers who had to beg their colleagues for a couple of lines in order to make a few coins.

Please, if anything it was Elton who begged Dua to be on his single. Who would listen to Cold Heart if it wasn’t for her?

I wasn't referring to Dua, she's not Britney's peer.

Honestly, I don't think any of them are trend-chasers. The closest would probably be Madonna between the "Hard Candy" and "Rebel Heart" eras ("MDNA" being the worst offender), but "Madame X" was a great return to form, so it feels unfair to name her now.

 

Shakira has been disappointing with her latest releases, but I'd rather wait until her next album era before making any judgments.

 

Overall, I'd say MPGs have either been ahead of the curve and setting the trends (Rihanna, Madonna, Beyoncé, Janet), excelling in their own lane (Taylor, Mariah, Adele), or simply making great pop music that occasionally happens to align with current sounds but also adding their own flavour and personality to it (the rest).

People saying Dua when she deliberately made the choice to release dance music during a time where dance music was a no go on the charts 

Rih and Ariana. Both make good music, but they're trend chasers nonetheless.

To the O/P, Cristina Aguilere, she copied Britney from the get on, as her label wanted her to join the teen pop sensation created by Britney's debut. She even said in her debut interview "I hope to join Britney soon" 

 

After that, when Britney changed her image and went sexy with her Slave 4 U MV, Xtina followed with Dirty. 

 

In 2008 she tried to copy gaga, and recently she jumped on the reggaeton trend, despite ignoring her latin ancestry for years. It's not working tho, she been flopping a lot

Demi has no identify and chases whatever the current trendy sound is. 

Rihanna too before she retired, her writing/ production camps were always ready to jump on whatever trend was popular at that time.
