Is there demand for Katy's comeback?

Featured Replies

She still has 1-2 big eras inside of her before she hits 45 She just needs to stop taking these long azz breaks in between albums. Smile was a really good album, she just chose the shittiest singles.

Cry About It Later would have been an amazing follow up to NRO in 2019/2020 following The Weeknd's massive Blinding Lights and would have rode off that sound since they have the same producers. Not The End Of The World got a shitty video and Tucked woulda been amazing light energy during the pandemic. HIH would have done amazing regardless.

I'm not counting out the possibility of a Katy cb. She just needs to serve sexy but classy era ala Back to Basics or Emancipation of Mimi. Enough with the clown ****, no one's buying it anymore.

If she only released a great single at a high level:jonny6:, she would come back at 1 :giraffe:and so she gives us when im gone:chick1:

She had the 365 "comeback", the Never Really Over "comeback", the Daisies "comeback", the When I'm Gone "comeback"... so I think the answer is no. But not many artists can boast 5 #1s off of a single album so she'll be remembered for that era.

I think appearing as a clown on your album cover doesn’t help matters if you want to be taken seriously for a comeback. Her aesthetic hurts her more than people like to believe. She needs to find a balance between whimsical and straight up buffoonery. Why would ANY major pop girl approve themselves to look like this: :clown: It’s poor marketing. Whatever the message was, it got lost in translation because all people see is a clown on store shelves and across the internet.

I’m a katycat and all of this is true.

Her vocal production in her recent songs is unbearable. She needs to fix that and sound GOOD and then maybe!

Demand has been no longer correlated to Katy for many years now.

No i fear, her Vegas tickets are cheaper than a Vodka / Redbull there :'(

Her Vegas tickets are struggling to sell at $30 each… Doesn’t seem like there’s much demand for her :doc: maybe if she started doing Cameos

:jonny: IDK why this question keeps getting asked when we have seen time and time again that the answer is a big, fat NO. She has tried every sound you can try and has tried every image you can try and has tried collabing with multiple different people. The public has said NO every single time.

It’s still so odd what happened w Katy Perry’s career :jonnycat:

It was all so sudden.

on topic- there’s so much music on streaming now, folks have zero attention spans- but that also means the “GP” is more forgiving of flops (bc they don’t even get to hear them ).

I feel like her only change at a huge hit nowadays is a feature with someone in their prime. Or her song gets featured in a huge coveted slot like a scene in stranger things or something :toofunny2:

It wasn’t that sudden tbh - the signs started showing with Unconditionally, Birthday & This Is How We Do. In hindsight, Katy is really lucky DH was on prism because every other follow up to Roar flopped.

She left PRISM on a bad note with Birthday/TIHWD & then took a long time to follow up with Witness, which just accelerated her decline because that era was a disaster.

Maybe a duet with Dua Lipa? She is a fan of hers.

I feel like Doja & Katy would be a good match. I could hear Katy on a song like Kiss Me More, Freaky Deaky, etc. very easy breezy summer bop vibes like prime TD era Katy

Demand it’s not there but you can create it, she needs to develop a new interesting sound that makes her stand out, she could build hype slowly if she releases good songs, but if she comes back with another mess like her previous 2 albums, then the results will be exactly the same

I don’t think Dua would risk it and collab with Katy, Dua is in her prime and can’t waste a collab on someone like Katy atm

Honestly I think since a lot of artists in their 30s and 40s are doing 2.0 versions of their most popular eras.. if she got max Martin and Benny blanco obv not luke and did a modern day teenage dream itd probably work. Nostalgia works every time. Like a glossy pop rock vibe like teenage dream the song or even a shameless radio song like California gurls. Depends how badly she wants it

When I’m Gone is one of the best songs she has made in years. It is honestly surprising that WIG didn’t find any commercial success. Maybe she needs a better marketing team. If a song like WIG can’t even be a small hit, I’m not sure what she can do to have a successful comeback

it really is this.  I agree.  The music has only gotten better, imo, but that cheesy aesthetic remains.  WIG is a giant step in the right direction tho.
