Except Rih retired from music meanwhile Taylor still have another 4 rerecords + new studio albums which consistently help her doing like 10M - 15M SPS/year. Last update for Taylor was May 2021 which she was at 101M, she's gaining like 17M since that and that's not even includes another 4M pure sales which simply put her at 122M. There's 50M gap between both artists and Taylor's momentum is getting stronger with each release so yeah she will surpass Mariah as soon as five years from now.

McDonald's comparison is really not doing what you think it is doing when it is about the 3 AOTY winner and one of the most acclaimed artists of the generation but i totally agree that there is a market for everyone, including "iconic" artists with some wigs and costumes.

It is actually true. AIWFCIY alone sold 1,5 million sps units in the US in 2021 and 600,000 sps units in the UK. The Christmas album shifted 495,000 sps units.

It’s not like she was churning out #1s in her last two eras, sis. In 2012-2016 she had a grand total of three #1s spanning two eras (one being The Monster). Mariah was still racking up 2-3 per era at that stage of her career and achieved 15 in her first decade.

 

and yes, Mariah is moving a massive amount of units per year so Taylor would have to sell a huge amount and continue to sustain big sales.

I think she will in the long run. She's been in the industry for 15 years and is literally crushing her younger peers on streaming currently. It's almost like she's more popular now that she ever was, that's crazy !

 

Mariah also re-peaked 15 years into her career but after going through a very tough period but the difference is that Swift has never stopped being successful, she just has eras that are less successful than others. Whether you like her or not, her career is impressive and truly one of a kind.

I understand what you’re getting at but peaks don’t matter. TIWYFC, Needed me, and wild thoughts are some of Rih’s best performing hits despite all 3 not peaking at the summit. 
 

OT: Chart masters isn’t an official source so no. She’s passed her in individual metrics like streams and digital sales but until an official source releases a list of best selling acts that combines metrics, No.

It seems you are confused tho. CM only uses album SPS units so that means Mariah gained 495K album units from her Xmas, not 4M like your earlier claim.

Taylor is a lamb. She will buy more Mariah Carey albums when she sees she’s getting closer.
