Rina Sawayama - "This Hell"

Featured Replies

This is fire, not understanding the Marina comparisons. There are no lyrics as abhorrent as Orange Trees' in here

iconic in every way

basics could NEVER comprehend

This is literally the definition of basic tho :deadbanana4:

It's a hit but lyrically not my speed. Hope she climbs charts with it though.

Its okay, but the instrumental is better than the song itself. Some of the lyrics sound clunky and cringe.

This is… different.. (but not terrible). Rina continues injecting nostalgia into her music in new and surprising ways. I definitely hear the Shania Twain influence; makes sense since she mentioned loving Shania’s music in Charli’s podcast. And yes… it does recall Born This Way… it seems Rina really wants her big pop moment :lakitu:

it’s definitely for the cheese-pop lovers (of whom I am one) but I’m gonna need some time to process this song.

well, let´s try to like this ironically i guess

"baby that makes two"

"got our ticket for two"

are such bland lyrics for the chorus tho :skull:

I really don't get them like... I thought the song was supposed to be about religious people hating gays or something? What do Britney and Lady Di have to do with that? It's just so non-descript and corny

This is the same person who wrote Dynasty, XS and Cyber Stockholm Syndrome :deadvision:

Its literally about owning the stereotype that gay people are going to hell and turning hell into a party it didn't seem that unclear to me. The Britney Whitney line was clearly a joke about how the paparazzi are gonna be in hell too for being assholes. One read of the lyrics and the song seems pretty straightforward and fun
