Saweetie has been radio silent about her debut album, a lawsuit against Warner Records is more likely to drop than the album at this point  and all steam has seemed to run out of the engine music wise. Her latest effort "Closer" with H.E.R., which sparked immediate comparisons to "Kiss Me More" by fellow collaborator Doja Cat, failed to match it's success or chart for more than 10 weeks despite receiving a radio deal.

 

 

Latto on the other hand took her chance at a crossover hit after releasing strictly hip hop tracks with "Big Energy" which eventually made it to #3 on the Hot 100 following a remix with the legendary Mariah Carey. Having just released her second album, with a deluxe edition on the way, touring the US by herself and supporting Lizzo's upcoming tour. Is it safe to say Latto replaced Saweetie's spot?

Honestly, the first time I heard "Big Energy" I thought it was a Saweetie song. It reminded me of her other song "My Type" I had no idea that it was Lattos song lol. Then I looked it up after hearing it so much on radio that it finally grew on me & I was shoooook, because Latto really sounds so much like Saweetie on Big Energy, plus the songs are pretty similar if you ask me

Latto’s team did what Saweetie’s  should have done when Best Friend was smashing and used to it launch a successful album campaign. Saweetie’s debut will never see the light since she won’t get another smash like that. Missed her chance

I hate that y'all still pitting woman against each other here... that said, Latto really started making moves, and 777 is a fantastic rap record. It's gonna be hard to top for Saweetie.

Not all the Dr. Luke protégés being pit against each other when they all release the same ****. Saweetie, Latto, Doja... 

Latto will most likely be a one hit wonder.

Saweetie has a following on social media, so she'll be successful as an influencer even if her singing career goes nowhere.

ummm check Lattos youtube...there is your proof..im from the south...she has been putting in work since she was 12...thats why so many people respect her...and Saweetie isnt supposed to be a singer or influencer..thats her problem.she needs to pick a lane and perfect it
