What britney does have class to it, i’ll say that.

The fact that the most obvious choice hasn't been posted and some of the recent comments gives me hope for how people view and treat Britney in 2022.

"ME!" is mostly mediocre, and I actually think the childish aspects like the bridge give some much-needed charm and personality to an otherwise bland and unremarkable song. Meanwhile, "You Need To Calm Down" is baffling on so many aspects, with career-low songwriting choices and an extremely tone-deaf way of tackling a serious issue - either make a song against internet hate or against homophobia - not dedicating one verse for each and dismissing it all as people needing to 'calm down'. 

 

Its redeeming factors outweight those from "ME!" - notably the excellent and important third verse and the Equality Act pushed through its promotion, but the lows are far too frustrating to ignore. 

 

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who finds "You Need To Calm Down" significantly worse.
