She had the messiest career ever. Her label tried too hard to make her happen in the US, to the point when her second album for US and the world were two different albums. Then the follow up Strip Me flopped in the US miserably and she abandoned the European market that seemed more loyal to her. Like Pocketful of Sunshine is one of her biggest classics and it wasn't even released worlwide until 2011  it remained a 00s staple through its sheer hit factor and the usage in the media (Easy A, The Sims 2 to name a few). It could've been a worldwide smash on a level of Single Ladies/Poker Face/Umbrella had it been pushed properly imo

Her label did not seem prepared to support an international pop star. Her album release schedules were so weird. Like, the fact that her lead single from her second album wasn’t even on the international track list and she basically recorded a new album instead and her hit singles off weren’t actually on the track list in her home country. What a mess.

 I remember this. Alsi iirc, there are countless versions of Strip Me or sumn and they all flopped miserably.

Her label was pretty terrible, and then she completely fell off with this album

 

 

It really wasn't a good album IMO and also this album she kinda just took a break. I think she was burnt out and ready for a hiatus anyway.

Atleast this queen still has classics  Hope she tours again! I met her during the Pocketful of Sunshine days and she was so sweet.

Strip Me was re-released as Strip Me Away for Europe (and Pockeful of Sunshine was latched onto it as the lead single fjgfgf) but it only charted in Germany

Personally, I don't think she was meant to last, her music was very of its time and she probably wouldn't have a niche in the pop scene of early 10s but it's clear that her career was mismanaged

It’s also kinda crazy that her brother was literally huge in the UK for a couple of years and then just totally retired from music. Gotta Get Thru This is a legit classic in the UK, (and arguably If You’re Not the One is also)

Nah, I think Stip Me was maybe her best album. Even better than Unwritten, which is almost impossible cause that's such an OG album. Strip Me was good. Especially tracks like "Touch", "Strip Me", "Run Run Run", "Neon Lights", "Try, "Weightless", "Put Your Arms Around Me", etc. It was such a great album. She wasn't burned out. She was back.
