Even the guitar licks remind me of Katy's lil "do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do-do". And thus this is a SOTY candidate for me and I'm angry no one warned me about it! The rest of album is pretty decent too, don't get the cold reception - feels more faithfully and enjoyably 00s'd than a lot of other stuff riffing from that era. bonkbanisters Posted January 1, 2023 Share Posted January 1, 2023 I don't get the disappointment some of y'all feel towards Surrender (and I love love love HIIAPL!!) Maggie is an absolute powerhouse and while you could see and hear that in her live shows for years already, it only really started to show in her studio recordings with Surrender and that's fantastic imo.
