Maggie Rogers has announced her new album. The follow up to her 2019 debut Heard It in a Past Life is called Surrender and it’s out July 29 via Capitol. A trailer, co-directed by Rogers and Michael Scanlon, teases new music from the album. Watch it below.

The album was recorded in three locations: Electric Lady Studios in New York, Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios near Bath in England, and Rogers’ parents’ garage. Rogers offered a statement along with today’s announcement—the poem above the album’s trailer.

- the record is ~47 minutes long

- 3 five-minute songs on the album

- "this record is, in many ways, a love letter to new york"
- sensuality / sex / anger / feral joy as inspiration for the album 
- she played the intro of Track 1 via her Instagram live at the end of 2021
- album colors are: vivid green. dark purple. mustard yellow. bright orange
- "i always said i would officially know the title when i saw the cover"; the cover was shot on Feb 12th
- "i wrote the last song for the record just before thanksgiving.... and turned it in as one of my finals for school"
- "[the album is] coming out of the storm. i thought i was making an angry record. and when i listen to it now im just struck by how hopeful it all sounds"
- "not quite connected [with the 'HIIAPL'], but there are mirrors in a way"
- 5 coloured vinyl variants (one of them is lavender)
- more colors to describe the album: black, white, green, tangerine
- sonically the LP is a "sort of a big soup of both archives and HIIAPL"

As someone who has never enjoyed her music TWIA has been on repeat...amazing song...and the video is also amazing

The chorus is really catchy, the studio version must be a bop, I hope the title is “If You Want” though

it is really is + the rest of the song too i've had it playing in my head all day 

the title hasn't exactly been confirmed but someone found a webstore selling the black vinyl and the cover had this sticker
