It's Eleven. At this point the only thing Wannabe has over it is YT views maybe. But Eleven has both the domestic success & the international success whereas Wannabe was only a thing among Ifans.

No because seeing what is going to with Blackpink is really disappointing

 

They are the first k-pop group I started stanning and they help me get through very difficult, depressing and stressful moments in my life so seeing them get so mismanaged is annoying

 

I really hope they won't renew the contract with YG and release music as much as they want solo or group OR do another job they're happy with without getting any restrictions from the higher-ups

I think I stopped suffering over BPs lack of comebacks after they released The Album tbh, it was obvious that they would take a long ass break after that.... it sucks but we'll get it when we get it.

 

I think we're getting a mini this year, full album in 2023, then another long hiatus or worse...

I know this a very unpopular opinion but I don’t think the “4th” gen really started, we’re still very much on the BLACKPINK / BTS era (2016 - TBA). For me, a new gen will start when the biggest 3rd gen groups disband or become legacy acts. BTS and BP are getting bigger each year like  If we look back the 2nd gen lasted 8 years (2007 - 2015) with SNSD and BIGBANG being the top groups, then in 2016 new groups completely took over and shattered their records which mean a new gen has arrived, I believe the same thing will happen in 4 or 5 years with the 3rd generation.

i think when y’all have these 3rd/4th gen discussion y’all fail to think about how many fans/fan culture came and changed kpop. kpop in 2016-2017 is very different than kpop 2018-onward. it blew up with a whole different audience. that’s why groups that debuted 2 years after blackpink feel like a different generation 

Lucas in jail since August 2021, many of my western faves haven't released since 2016/2017. Blackpink is not that bad.

idk gen's are subjective - especially when you're older and time is a construct anyways

 

Red Velvet feels second gen to me, but i guess they're counted as third?

By that logic BTS, Red Velvet and TWICE are 2nd gen  there was just a boom in kpop and that's why the generations are shorter. The media already reports these new groups as 4th gen and these new girls are boys are already covering BTS/Blackpink etc and mentioning them as people they look up to so it really feels like a different generation. Plus downloads were still a thing a few years back, now streaming is much more common.
