It's just SM's absolute obsession with lip syncing. Karina sang really well at Coachella, there is no reason for it other than SM's insane perfectionism.

 

The girls clearly want to sing live too (especially Ning Ning) and seemed to enjoy being able to do so for once, it's sad to watch them go back to these same robotic performances when they are capable of much more

They still do but it gets less and less every year with every SM act. Although she sings live in a lot of other contexts, Taeyeon hasn't sung live on a music show since 2017 Wendy thankfully was allowed to sing for her solo debut

Karina is like a best vocalist than anyone on LSFofc she would slay. SM is being stubborn as usual

I mean not that I like it or agree with this sentiment but it kinda makes sense. Lipsyncing is kinda the standard in kpop now so groups are actually more likely to be dragged if they serve bad vocals rather than for lipsyncing. Plus delulu fans seem to believe pre recorded vocals are live. Aespa have the reputation of a vocal group, is it really work risking it?

Itzy isn’t a vocal a group but they got praised for singing live they even have a live dance practice version.
Aespa has 2 great vocalists and 1 good singer, why would SM scared when they have a solid vocal line. It’s just weird. It also affects their performances since most of the time it’s just the same backtrack with different outfits. The downgrade since black mamba is concerning.

Dahyun isn’t that bad she just has a monotone voice and can’t do that much. Momo sounds fine with low registers notes.

Genie became only half as good once they removed Jessica's heavenly ad libs to give the spotlight to Hyogre's flop dance break

It’s interesting to see how people react to different groups live vocal abilities so drastically differently. 

WJSN's Aura seems too short with Seola's monologue and Exy's parts that seems too dominating in the song. Hope the stage performance will be more spectacular than Pantomime 

I can’t stop watching this the fanchants are insane…curious to see how their next comeback does

They love to act pretentious about twice for some reason  
They're all good performers even if a few struggle live so... plus lipping is always an option in kpop!
