Red Velvet getting the girls riled up, must be a day that ends in y

Indeed and just as some people were claiming a few pages back about how "SM stans" are always the problem/jealous/belittling other groups etc. etc. Interesting.

It's 2022 and Red Velvet are a successful 3rd gen top tier group.

Once again, certain people really need to come up with something else.

The way we were innocently celebrating FMR's success and out of nowhere people start belittling their success by bringing up 4th gen and BP/Twice.

Like uh okay?

:foxaylove3:

like there are definitely times some of us bait to start arguments, but this one was unprompted which kinda sends me :dies:

Longevity makes up for the fact their RV’s peak wasn’t as big :michael: they’re bigger than the former NGG digitally in Korea and have managed to outsell their recent albums on hanteo. Overall Twice and BP are bigger but it ain’t 2019 RV is up there with them.

ANYWAY Jessica’s book spilling the tea

and considering there was a period from RBB through UU that they were basically being called dead and over, their resurgence is impressive! and then to overcome Wendy’s accident after that as well!

I’ll have to side with the Sheep on this one, RV’s recent growth in physicals has been insane and FTM was a moment for them and still doing well on Korean charts. The longevity :clap3:

Red Velvet is obviously in the Top 3 girlgroups in 3rd gen. TWICE and BLACKPINK are way more successful, but that doesn't really take away from how well Red Velvet's done for themselves.

I love how it really is be the top of the top or you're nothing to certain groups for some of you. What a cynical way to enjoy K-pop :rip:

Listen it’s a blink. You already know from that alone they’re not in it for the music. Will gladly take a top 3 girl group with longevity and great success and an amazing discography over the models with a pathetic number of songs overall that band together every two years to make mediocre music and smash.

If Mina is actually Sooyoung like everyone says then it seems like Jessica's beef was actually with Sooyoung instead

I have to disagree, HYLT and LSG are bigger than DDDD and FY both in SK and WW. :giraffe:

Yeah. LSG is much bigger than FY, so HYLT & LSG win

Releasing two of the biggest Kpop gg songs of this decade + scoring the highest selling Kpop gg album of all time. What a year for BP:clap3:

???? This is unwarranted. I'm a BLINK. BLACKPINK definitely stomps on them, musically too.  :biblio:

That's been the longstanding rumor, but I think that particular character is more a mixture of 2 members.

But not gonna share too many thoughts yet as I want to enjoy and fully digest the book first, without having certain sones coming at me with tired drags about Jessica's looks or threatening to block me again :skull:

OT: Get your copy of Bright by Jessica Jung. Out NOW

This has always been so surprising to me. Is there a particular reason why? Cuz you'd think the fans would focus on streaming the music video. Is it because it's on YouTube Kids?

the MV is age restricted in some countries so the Dance Practice shows up on YT recommendations more often

plus it has a plain pink background, kids love pink (maybe)

I mean I think in that thread it mentioned how one of the members had missed schedules for a movie at that point being most likely Sooyoung (idk if Yoona was doing Movies at that point) but I’m sure she alongside with Taeyeon were the most vocal for sure.

Regardless if it's true or not, Jessica really dredged up old drama and now the other girls are receiving hate because of the way she wrote it. Great. :katie:

But we're being told Red Velvet is not one of the biggest 3rd gen GGs and that they are flop who can't compete with 4th gen groups...

So why did they make it to the top 5 on this list? Can someone explain?

As if the other girls didn't fuel the hate right after her exit by cropping her out of pics and releasing a song saying that they're "never gonna look back".

Jessica was silenced and her career in Korea was destroyed by SM because of decisions made involving the other 8 members. Why should she be forced never to talk about that?

She sunk into a deep depression after being removed from the group. Krystal wrote in a fanmeeting letter that seeing her sister "crying every single day" broke her heart.

At the end of the day, these books are Jessica's work and nobody can police how and when she decides to talk about things in her life that have happened to her. She's not even directly mentioning those girls. It's a work of fiction inspired by real events and I admire her bravery at speaking out against patriarchy and jealousy.

She's using the past to sell her book that's not even written by her. This isn't some confessional that she just had to get off her chest to heal.

It's her throwing her former members under the bus for things that happened a long time ago and possibly even using unrelated things like Taeyeon's sister to paint a picture. People are gonna take this book as gospel when it's probably exaggerated (Like the subunit in the book stealing lyrics from her personal diary PLEASE). :bibliahh:

Whatever, hope the book sells well for Jessica.

I see you're feeding into the patriarchy, disappointing. She was literally removed from her group and cast away, if anyone was thrown under the bus it is Jessica.

Like I said, she's drawing off of her lived experience. If she hadn't been treated horribly, there would have been nothing to write about. And it is her experience. No one can take that away from her.

Everyone knows now that they were planning to get her kicked from the group. Chinese fanbars knew about the situation days before it happened, and it spread on social media, which is why the Chinese media supports her, they saw the truth. The Korean media and "fans" like you bought into SM's mediaplay about the situation and have just been doing SM's dirty work ever since.

The truth is never that clear cut and those 8 other girls are not angels.

not her calling jessica lazy the whole time:deadbanana:

tbh even though Sooyoung was joking here and seemed cool with Jessica in Mr. Mr era (same with Taeyeon) it really shows we know nothing behind the scenes
