Girl it has 37M streams after 2 months on Spotify.

For comparison, LOVE DIVE has 45M and was released weeks after.

The music video has 37M views after 2 months as well. It’s going to struggle / take over a year or years to surpass 100M on either platform.

Big internationally :deadbanana4:

It was a cute hit on the K-charts and that’s all it served. It wasn’t a repeak by any means with GP. Maybe fanbase wise with the album sales

I said compared to THEIR OWN past releases. Why are you bringing up Love Dive? Worms for brains.

Not to mention FMR was actually a re-peak for them on the charts.

Hilarious honestly. I thought if you weren’t BP or BTS you couldn’t brag about global stats :gaycat6:

37M streams in two months is actually great. It’ll pass 100M in a few months. Again I don’t see the Naevis girls doing it

I’d like to talk about how sick all of y’all are for switching on Chungha after Stay Tonight tanked. I’m going through her songs and y’all really need to pay respect to her

Hmmm, I suppose you can see it that way too, personally it kinda just feels like let's say, an american artist trying to branch out in latin america with spanish songs, those spanish songs could underperform while still being relevant with the GP with their english stuff (since it's what made them relevant anw), it's just not what they're known for/what they're looking for in said artist so it's harder to score same level-sized hits, especially with not-so-good promo!

Not saying they're as big now as the artists you listed before but they're definitely the powerhouse for ggs with the GP, like not even the 46 ggs who had a cute digital moment in 2017-ish? are scoring hits anymore, and niziu is fading even though they have a fanbase more willing to buy albums (for now)

Also the karaoke chart is a weird metric, in 2020's yearly chart Feel Special was in the 300s while in 2021 it went down to the 500s and in that monthly chart you shared its n/a, when its for now their 2nd biggest hit there which should definitely equate to impact especially cause the gap is rather big, while WIL? has been in constant rise since 2019, so I wouldn't say it's thaaaat reliable either, and the fact there's no Perfume at all when they kind of have the biggest girl group legacy... idk :matty:

-Yeah, I also think original JP releases (even if they're not as successful) are important for goodwill from JP citizens, because they're a sign you're actually serious about taking on the JP market, and not just trying to make a quick buck. But tbh, smth abt (most) original JP songs just never quite hit the same mark as KR ones. At this pt, I think it'd be smarter to just release a JP version of title tracks simultaneously with KR ones...

-That's why I called the GG competition in JP an empty house. Twice is undoubtedly one of the biggest GG names in JP and yet there's still such a big gap between them and the mainstream acts. I wonder how long it's going to be till we get anth early 2000s MoMusu/AKB level of domination from a GG (k-pop or not) :rip:

-I mean they do have a pretty big stanbase there, evident from their dome concerts. And we all know how much FS meant to onces. So i wouldn't be surprised if a large part of its longevity on streaming is due to its status as a stanbase classic.

-as for WIL.... Top 3 Twice song I think JP got that right!! It being one of the easier Twice songs to singalong to definitely helps IMO.

-wrt prfm... There's no mistake there alright :) they're known and respected, but no one really checks for their music anymore. Their legacy is showing up to kouhaku every year to put on a light show, and popping up on morning news every once in a while to promote a non-kouhaku light show. Doesn't help that they never really got smash hits during their heyday either.

It’s not even Top 5 of their own hits internationally :deadbanana2:

The runway looking like wings is actually really neat. I kinda wish we'd gotten a more mythical concept tho.

Right :rip: imagine being based on angels and debuting with a mermaid song in your album instead jsmsjdjsjdk

In uhhhh anth 9 years when theyre all of age, it'd be cool if they really went all out with the angels on a runway concept and served us smth like this :jonnycat:

When we say peak do we mean digital peak? Because if so then Twice peaked in 2016. RV 2017 and BP 2018 if we’re being honest since DDDD + FY > HYLT and LSG if you ask me. But regardless when y’all are saying how 3rd gen groups are over and then saying how 2nd gen groups outlasted…literally where. Most of 2nd gen were disbanded 7 years in.

RV are still smashing, as will BP and Twice are still getting cute lil hits. Their album sales are always increasing too. This generation’s biggest groups will still thrive long into 4th gen like there’s no erasure the way some of y’all think there is.

They had their biggest hit in 2016 but I wouldnt say it was their overall peak. They had 3#1s in 2018. Dance The Night Away + What Is Love? were smash hits. Yes or Yes not as big was still huge and got a PAK.

The reality is that there is still a huge wall between the top girl groups from the third generation and Red Velvet. I guess they can compete with groups that just debuted like aespa or IVE (and still lose)

Black Mamba and Next Level are over 100M streams and Savage is at 96M. So I don't get this shade. :ihype:

Red Velvet is obviously in the Top 3 girlgroups in 3rd gen. TWICE and BLACKPINK are way more successful, but that doesn't really take away from how well Red Velvet's done for themselves.

I love how it really is be the top of the top or you're nothing to certain groups for some of you. What a cynical way to enjoy K-pop :rip:
