The problem with Rated R are the lows. Some of the worst tracks of her career are on that album: Mad House, Stupid In Love, Photographs and Rude Boy. However all the other tracks are at least 8.5/10 for me. Having 9 bangers out of 13 is a feat.

Rude Boy is one of her best (and most underrated) pop songs  Rihanna sounds best on those dancehall / reggae influenced pop songs, like What's My Name which in my opinion are much better than all her other bigger #1 hits. It does feel a little out of place on the record though.

 

The other tracks I agree (although id swap Rockstar 101 for Rude Boy), Mad House is cool for what it is but ultimately feels like a wasted opportunity (like Goodnight Gotham).

Of course she is recording new music. 

 

Studio sessions at those places are not what you call 'cheap' 

 

She recorded Loud and Rated R there... So... Cannot wait to see what she brings this time around

The lead should come anytime now. Rumours circulating about end of Oct. This makes sense for the GP to get to know the song and build hype.

Am I really seeing Rude Boy slander in here? That's like the most quintessential Rihanna song to me. A fun and sexy pop song with dancehall elements, it's nothing but a quality bop! It's one of her best songs, and her best single outside of Kiss It Better  A shame it'll probably be excluded from her SB setlist.

It feels unreal that it finally seems we're getting new music I wonder if she's still aiming for a reggae-heavy album, or if she's taking it another direction

I can't wait more. All the studios sessions make me hype. 

 

Abandoned a era is a typical thing right now, this is the reason I think she will do a lot of things with R9. She always tries to ride in another direction

Rude Boy and Mad House being some of her worst songs?  No. Stupid In Love can rot though.

Umm should she really waste time on a piano ballad? Diamonds and LOTB are more then enough for slower songs.

Yeah, and it’s probably too early to be working on mixes for the Super Bowl anyway – nor would it require that many late-night studio sessions
