When you really think about it, labels have been more comfortable dropping people nowadays than shelving. Shelving used to be more common 2000s and 2010s. Nowadays they just drop you like Coi Leray, Raye (after she complained enough), Tinashe (after they wasted her time), etc. It's weird how RCA just won't let her go.
 

Even the other 5H girls left their post-fifth harmony labels (Dinah, Ally, and Lauren). Only Normani been trapped like this. It seems intentional at this point if she truly owes money, drop her or force her to release to recoup. 
 

My theory is RCA is afraid Atlantic, Republic, or Def Jam would sign Normani since that would directly go against Tate or Victoria Monet. So they rather keep Normani trapped via shelving until they're positive she can't revive her career at all. R-ddit clocked some of this 4 yrs ago oddly:

The fifth harmony comeback is embarrassing… None of them even did what they sought out to do after their hiatus which could be a result of labels but wasn't their whole thing in fifth harmony "ReAd YoUr CoNtRaCtS"… 

 

The fact that Normani didn't even get to promote or perform her debut album that she had planned and tried to perfect for so long is sad honestly..

 

I'm going to assume Camila didn't want to be apart of the reunion (cause she doesn't need it) or that the trio still can't get over something that happened nearly 10 years ago..

That's what im confused about 😭😭. We can't even get visuals from her first album. At least 5h was always doing something. We had visuals/tour/ festivals/online présence/ album every year, even during their flop era. Dopamine was dead even before it's arrival but we didn't know it yet.

The fact she posted *that* amidst this news makes it very odd and calls into question if her team had any part in this or if they want in on it. Somebody over there on her side wants to know if the public wants a FULL 5H reunion or she would have never posted that cause that post is very forced for engagement.

Ideally a quick reunion tour with limited dates would be ideal. Then they all promote their solo material. No new album

A tour just seems like a quick cash grab and has Will written all over it, never liked him one bit  

 

If this was getting a proper push, with full label support and a competent management team behind it, then yeah it could potentially be great, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.  The bar is low for nation but this wouldn't be a step up from where we are right now. 
 

I could see them re-recording all their songs and putting out a 3H/4H version as a way to promote this tour. 

I wouldn't mind a reunion as I love and miss them as a unit. I just need Normani to at least drop the visuals before then

There's a bunch of people in here that don't know how the industry works. A few years ago Halsey called out capital and said they wouldn't let her release without a tiktok hit and then they were super messy about her when they finally let her leave the label.

 

Mike posner had a viral interview that was going around a few months ago. He was signed to RCA in like 2010 and had like 2 hits and then 2 flops and then they refused to let him release his album. He had to sell boyfriend to Justin bieber and sugar to maroon 5 because he just wanted people to hear his music since his album was never coming out. Normani is not some huge hit maker that can dictate when she can or can't release something. Her stuff isn't out and isn't getting promoted because of RCA.

First news in what feels like a YEAR and it's a rumored 5H reunion…yeah okay, I see why I gave up.

 

Normani deserved so much better, and regardless of mismanagement or label issues, it's also clear she doesn't think she deserves it herself. Sad.
