Hopefully they'll be spreading out promotional spots. I guess the only reason the quietness took over was so that we would be taken by surprise with the release date

The production on 1:59 is top tier 

So excited to hear the features on the album. She said all of them are people that inspire her and there's one that will surprise us. I wonder who they are

It's giving Blaque/Rodney Jerkins, but not really in a way that moves the sound forward, imo.

1:59 is soooo good. It really feels like what Aaliyah would have done if she did another album and got more into her freaky side.

 

Love the ad libs at the beginning and her vocals throughout. There's something special about this record.

i think 1:59 can be a slow burner if they promote it, i also think radio is gonna eat it up.

 

but its clear "candy paint" is the song they're gonna push hard lol

I have a really good feeling about 1:59. To answer what you said earlier, I think Candy Paint has the potential to become a hit. It has some of the ingredients that we all want from her – it's sassy, energetic, and she's talking her ish. I believe this is something people either wanted from her or something they didn't realize they needed from her. My personal favorite though, is 1:59.

I think if Normani is smart she'll give this song 2 months of room to breathe and gain her urban/rhythmic audience then come swinging with Candy Paint on album release to gain lots of streams and drop the video as well since my bday is june 13th and then drop a 3rd single in the fall/tour.

The Spotify streams aren't going to look good, and I hope that doesn't discourage some of you. We barely had promo until the day of the song's release, and it has no music video, which is where she shines. Idgaf if it doesn't go anywhere; the song is good, but look at all the factors that are preventing it from succeeding. Like I said, they need to release the music video, and she needs to do some interviews.

so we didn't make it into the global or US spotify chart. the song is nowhere to be seen in the apple music top 100 either
