Well I guess it’s official; Tate is RCA’s new major pop act. She’s got another album speed run just to keep up with the success of greedy. I guess that’s good because maybe they’ll let Normani go the R&B route she was trying to get go in the beginning. But one thing that somewhat tells me that won’t be happening is that they already have two successful acclaimed R&B girls with SZA and now Victoria Monet. I don’t think there is any room for Normani anymore. She would be probably be better off going indie and hoping those twitter stan’s who are holding out for her will support.

I feel the same exact way. I honestly think the GP has gotten to the point where they'll just except anything because we're currently in between generations of stars where the next Gen hasn't been solidified yet. That's why I still do not feel like Normani is a hopeless case. Peoples main gripe with her is that they don't get enough of her.

 

If the musical year for 2024 is as empty as it was this year, I do not see why not for Normani. She simply has to release and I'm hoping she does because I really do miss seeing her. 

Thinking about like the post-Fair era last year when all Normani oomfs around me were thinking Candy Paint was coming like June 24th and it was already so far away... to think it's been a year and a HALF since then is unreal

I personally like Water by Tyla. I think the only thing that’s keeping me from being an average listener is her other music (while good); isn’t as interesting sound wise. Like I remember seeing her around the beginning of 2022. Then her music sounded more EDM than amapiano. Now that’s she’s leaned into her more Amapiano/Afropop sound. I feel like Epic will have most of her music similar to Water which to me depending on how good it sounds can cause her music to decline rather rapidly. 

 

While I like some of Tate’s music it sounds hella generic. Like Greedy sounds good but exes sounds like Ava Max meets Melanie Martinez (tone wise). I think the only thing that has gotten her attention. is her dancing. (Which is what got Normani attention as well). But I think Normani has a similar attention to detail as a Madonna or britney which makes her a bit more fleshed out as a performer.

You know I was about to say "It's the 4th quarter. Normani and most artists won't be releasing until January the earliest so maybe you should take a break from the thread until then" but then I saw it was you and this was probably sarcasm. But the breakdowns are a little funny to me now Normani didn't hire 2 new music managers to not release next year. I think a lot of people forgot she has to pay these people lol.

I was speaking more about the nation community on twitter arguing two days ago because a fan spotted her eating cinnabon. They were melting down in there but luckily she popped up again and they moved on.

what i meant is that a lot of people in the tate discourse on here/twitter are making the point that tate can release an album because she's consistent and is capitalising off of the success of greedy, whereas normani was inconsistent and didn't take advantage of the success of motivation/wild side to release an album. they're not wrong at all but i'm just sick of hearing it

What is with this whole narrative that she needs to time. It’s been 5 damn years. She doesn’t have any songs from her previous recording sessions? Im thinking he’s just saying that to throw us off her scent. I personally think she is getting her ducks in a row to release again. I think it would not only be slap to her fans face to face them wait. I also think by that time nobody will care. I truly think this has something to do with Tate Mcrae being their new pop girl. Normani wants to be R&B which is a similar situation to Tjnashe. But back then in 2012 when Tinashe released her album. There weren’t many pop/R&b acts aside from. Chris Brown and Rihanna. Now there is space for it she doesn’t want to do both? Something isn’t making sense. Either she’s shelved or she sees no career in doing pop. @wheresjay have you heard anything.
