I feel Gaga is probably a little lost about what direction she wants to go forward with music and how to reclaim some of that success and edge she had.

But I think Beyonce at that point had the drive to work with new and creative people and really carve out a niche for herself and found an amazing coherent artistic vision with self titled that has carried over for the last 10 years.

I don't know what she's doing, I don't know if she cares about her music career anymore. But I feel the thing that's lost is vision and direction. Does she want to be a critical darling? Does she want to even be a musician? Does she want to be a performer that doesn't put out original music anymore? Does she want to be a full time actress? Business mogul?

Gaga has always been jack of all trades, master of none and it's coming back to bite her because she has her hands in so many different pots that we don't know what she is wanting. Her fan base stems from her music career but that's the one that is seemingly least important right now. Team Gaga just needs to have a come to Jesus about what direction they're wanting to go the next few years and stick to it because the fans are getting annoyed that they feel like they've been edged the last few years with silence and teasing that never comes to fruition.

This is absolutely true even if we don't have to hear it. She's absolutely capable of being a successful film star, entrepreneur, and recording artist but it takes WORK.

I used to think her versatility is what would keep her career commercially afloat but it's interesting how it's because a weight instead. What Beyonce did with seeking different external resources to help reposition her career is exactly what could help her carve out a coherent vision, but she refuses to can people no longer serving her. Bobby's post-Chromatica management has basically undone the great work he accomplished rebranding her post-Joanne.

I doubt she is insecure about Beyonce or Taylor Swift but I do think she is a bit lost and confused as to which direction she wants to go for LG7. It may appear that she has full autonomy in her music career but when she decides to put out another album, Interscope will have to invest a lot of money and they've been accommodating with Gaga's vision the past decade but I feel like this time around they're going to be a lot more strict and are going to pressure her to make guaranteed hit singles. The risk comes that Gaga may have to compromise her artistry for a few hit singles to please the label and this may be holding her back from releasing the album any time sooner. I imagine as a record label pop artist it can be very frustrating having to maintain the perfect balance between pleasing the higher ups without hindering your artistry. She's talked about this since her debut album. That being said, 5 years between album releases is a very bad move in the streaming era. Her and her team need to get it together before too much time passes.

problem comes from her team of yes men and incompetent behavior... sorry but she needs to ditch most of her team but she won't cause at the end of the day, those people stood by her when everyone left during ARTPOP and she clearly still has unresolved trauma on that front

Random question

There were rumor that Gaga recorded tons of Liza/Judy songs and it was true that 2 Judy songs will be on the film.

so do you all think Cabaret which is Liza's signature song will make it in to JFAD?

Cuz she will killll the scene

I feel like her and Beyonce have kinda switched places from where they were during the TFM and IA…SF eras :lakitu: Gaga was at her creative and commercial peak and Beyonce was seemingly throwing out everything she had and trying to make something stick. There was a post a few pages back about how Taylor/Beyonce are occupying the commercial aspect of pop music while Gaga wants to occupy the critically acclaimed parts of it, which just doesn't make sense in reality. Taylor & Beyoncé's most recent projects have been more acclaimed than anything Gaga has ever put out. We're at a point in pop music where, in general, commercial and critical success go hand in hand.

Lost her vision from being a popstar, yes. I think she's not in the same headspace as making dance music after ARTPOP. She clearly loves to venture/experiment other sounds and even the industry. I don't think she's lost but broaden her views and do whatever she likes. I could see this was Tony's advice and guidance after the fiasco from ARTPOP. Her mindset changed but it comes with pros and cons.

but it doesn't mean she lost her way or edge just she recreated the Gaga elements in her current headspace ala TCB

She has also released a jazz album and performs in Las Vegas lol plus she also had to write the soundtrack for Joker, maybe even the score. Plus, shes clearly in the middle or further in the album making processm

In other news, Steven Klein hasn't posted since 2023 so its unlikely Gaga saw a video of him and decided to follow, she clearly followed cause they are working together period

That jazz album of covers was recorded in 2019 though.

i would respect the jazz side of gaga more if she started making her own jazz songs instead of cover albums and covers on stage.. like... its giving tribute act she could easily drop lg7 then do an original jazzy album that gives back to black a year later

If those were her final Vegas shows wouldn't she promote them as such? I believe she is forever chained to Vegas

Gaga is never dropping Vegas. It's a realiable source of income in the streaming era (royalties don't pay much anymore) and it's a good way to broaden her artistry and audiences.

HOWEVER, it's true that it would be far better with original jazz material. Her doing the same 20 covers plus 5 jazz versions of the same hits (Poker Face, Bad Romance, etc.) is tiring. I think I'd rather hear ma-ma-pa-pa-pa perfect illusion with a saxophonea than Bad Romance on the piano for the 1,000th time.

I think what he meant was that she's not expending THIS residency and is not signing a new contract right away

Its CLEAR and EVIDENT she lost passion for music. As for the concert film, she should have released it AGES AGO, there is literally no point whatsoever in releasing it now so we can say goodbye to that. She can be insecure all she wants but her and her management need to realise that they cant expect major succes with releasing an album every 4 years and doing basic lead singles. Either they change this or completely give up chasing #1 smash hits and let her release whatever jazz rock music she wants and not forced dance pop that was chromatica. I hate to say this but Beyonce is making history with her 3 acts project, Taylor is constantly releasing and writing, Ariana released a pretty good album while she filmed 2 movies back to back etc while Gaga is promoting medications, teasing an album that only god knows when its coming out and doing jazz shows in Vegas for rich 50+ years old people. Sorry but thats not how you can expect to have a good pisition in todays music landscape and you are becoming a legacy nostalgia act

I don't hate her. I still love and respect her, which is why I paid near $500 for a Jazz & Piano ticket. I'm just calling it like it is.

I have stanned this woman since the beginning and though I'm not her friend, I've watched and studied her enough to make reasonable assumptions about her intentions. She wants everything but there really is a point where she can have her cake and eat it simultaneously. The majority, core Lady Gaga audience are her pop music listeners. Then you layer in her jazz audience, her Joanne/ASIB listeners, film audience, etc. She can't be surprised about her current position in the pop music landscape when she's paid dust to her core audience but has happily squeezed them for the 1,000 brand partnerships she's pursued. In marketing, you establish and maintain a relationship with your audience or it falters.

I almost don't blame LMs for having turned out the way they did. I too would be perpetually resentful if a fave I was loyal to treated me like as disposable after having defended her on so many fronts. The fact that many of us spent actual energy defending her "art and capitalism" comments and other attacks on her character all to be rewarded with... 2-second videos with no audio.

I love Gaga and I'll always be here for her but I'm not going to spend as much energy trying to defend her choices - and they've been CHOICES - or pretend she's a force in music anymore.

we just want her to be better, it comes from a good place. we know she has it in her and it's frustrating being a fan during the makeup for sale, adGa era when she hasn't released a studio album in 4 years

I highly doubt she's feeling 'threatened' by any specific artist simply because she seems to be completely out of touch with today's music scene.

Yes, I'm pulling this out of my Chromatica jockstrap and have nothing to back my claim, but I just don't see her boomer ass being perched on Spotify every week to check out what or who is doing well on the charts.

She would rather use her time on gardening or cooking, idk what 70-year-olds are up to these days.

She's not the musical genius we all, atleast once, painted her to be. Yeah she's talented, but she's just a greedy capitalistic botched celebrity now. :bird:

She's totally insecure of Bey and Tay. She was visibly bothered when she was pitted against Katy in 2013.

And she has no one to blame but herself. Bey and Tay have played the game and invested in their crafts. And what's absolutely crazy is that she could have the same gigantic success if she actually gave a damn to invest in her own career. She has the star power, core fan base, media interest, and catalog power but instead she's chosen to abuse her core audience.

:celestial5:

I know this is hard to understand and accept, but Gaga clearly does not view her career in the same light as Bey and Tay. Bey and Tay want to be global forces, they want to be "number one, the only one". Gaga does not and her actions show as much. That does not make her "insecure". Insecure would be her trying to follow in their footsteps when she just is not doing that. I could even argue the constant need to be seen as the best and spending millions on PR to make sure the public views you that way, is a sign of insecurity because you are afraid of being seen as anything other than that.

Ga spent years fighting for fame and domination, and then when she got it, it practically destroyed her. She views it differently now. If she could have the same gigantic success but she is not, what should that tell you? That should tell you she is not interested in that, right? You want her to have "gigantic success" to satiate some weird fetish you have for your fave "being the best". She does not want that.

Like, she can not even ******* post an IG selfie without fans having full blown meltdowns over her "teasing". And yet she is the one doing the abusing here? Come on, guys. Be for real.

Lots of projecting here. Every time she releases a new project, you guys swear she did not mean to do what she did and that she meant to do something else. "Original LG5" "Original LG6" "Bloodpop forced her to do x, y, z." You remove her autonomy as an artist and as a human because you want to put her into a box she does not want to be in. You have convinced yourselves of each of these things all because she is being silent.

You not liking something =/= her not knowing what her vision is.

She can be all of this if she wants to. She does not have to focus on only one thing, and she does not have to tell us where her head is. It would be nice, but if she told us, you guys would just continue to attack her. :toofunny2:

Gaga is not going to randomly wake up one day, fire her team, hire new people, and change her philosophy. If you continue to hope that happens, you will continue to be disappointed and will forever live in a land of make believe. If you guys love what B and T do so much, they are releasing soon. They are great artists worthy of your stanning so go 'head with your bad selves.

i believe she's been filming and shooting for the past week (as she didn't update studio pics for a week)...let's be patient!

Gagavoodoo for calling out mother. :gaycat6:

That post of mine is TL;DR.

Just know this, Lady Gaga is not going to change. She is not firing anyone. She is not changing how she views fame and success.

Many of you will be very upset when the new era is not accompanied by huge promo pushes and an onslaught of her being everywhere.
