Stupid Love (#11) and Rain On Me (#10) were her biggest pop radio hits since 2013 (Applause/DWUW). If we can get into the Top 20, I'll take that as a success. What matters more for her is HAC/AC and getting good streaming support.

Yeah it never went Top 10. I should have rephrased to “its initital run in the Top 10 on the Hot 100 it was rising on Pop/HAC/AC…”

I saw Top Gun last night and I guess since I saw it with 2022 eyes it honestly didn’t seem like propaganda to me. If anything it made me want to join the armed forces even less (not that I wanted at all) given how quickly you can die when something goes wrong. The story was basically about him living up to his father’s skills  given he’s (Tom’s character) a hot head and a love interest.

I think Shallow peaked at #19 on Pop and that was after it was added back after the Oscars performance. It was already out of the Top 40/went recurrent before that. One of the rare examples of a song being added back to Pop radio and repeaking.

 

I'm pretty sure HMH will be serving MR pre-SB updates on Pop until the movie's released and they payola power rotation for a couple weeks. 

 

It'll probably smash on HAC/AC

Quality wise HMH will be nice. Charting wise l don’t expect it to be a hit, at least that’s prob not the intention lol. 

Pop radios don't have much to play except year old songs, so maybe they will give her chance. But then again I don't see them leaving save your tears, cold hear and heat waves any time soon

I like save your tears, but that is beyond the point. They learn to need go of year old songs, they are playing more songs from 2021 than from 2022

Considering Take My Breath Away was a SMASH in the 80s they'd be dumb not to attach a great song that has hit potential to this film. Given the previous movie's soundtrack success (9x Platinum in the USA).

the soundtrack actually had TWO major hits, Danger Zone is right up there with Take My Breath Away too
