  • I texted @Bloo tonight and told him I’m gonna do a Kelly takeover this weekend for ATRL. If you have any suggestions on things we should tweet out or do for the site, let is know. She’s gonna be on th

  • This was an amazing cover. More than anything, I want Kelly to land a major cinematic theme song like MHWGO or IWALY. She has the voice for it and, if it did well, it could be a hit for her. I would l

  • no shade but I expect more from her 1st independent release. she now has 100% creative control + freedom and the first thing she releases sounds like her last 2 albums   give us the country

Also, we kind of missed mentioning that Kelly got presented with a plaque of over 4 billion streams on Pandora. Imo tbh and quite impressive considering it’s not a global service (usa only?) and her Spotify numbers are just north of 5 billion

Potentially unpopular opinion, but this has been one of my favorite releases weeks. I really enjoyed all of the interviews. I could have used a few more highly televised performances, but I think the flash mob performances were a nice compromise. Overall, I enjoyed it!

I think High Road should’ve been the lead single, hear me out..

I love high road. She sounds fantastic on it. However, I bet it was important for Kelly to have a lead single that she wrote.

It’s terrible. I’m side eyeing anyone pretending to like it.

Ngl I haven’t gone through the writing credits yet so I still don’t know which ones she wrote. That makes sense though.

ready is about giving up after Irvine. I'm shook and so sad

Interesting. The old rumor was that it was about her label

At least the arguments about Irvine being (partially) about suicidal thoughts is effectively settled.

I've always thought Ready was underrated. It was never my favorite, but people hated on it way too much. I'm curious to revisit it now. I always love when artists guise sad meanings in their songs with a happy, up-beat production.

EDIT: Listened to the song again and yeah... it's obvious in retrospect. The line about her thinking about leaping from a cliff is such a giveaway it's insane to think about how I think we all just thought of it as a love song. :rip:

I always thought it was known ready was about that.  The lyrics about leaping and then the end where it literally sounds like she jumped off a cliff like her voice gets farther and farther away.

The only ones she didn’t co-write are high road and my mistake.

Currently rediscovering AIEW, do y’all think Tip of My Tongue is about the same thing

this.

also like someone said it was/is a mix about her label and life at the time and how she felt she had no voice/did not like at all where she was in life - which also coincides with the dark under message .

the demo was so good and still enjoyed the album version for sure.

---

same with her 'racehorse' demo, the lyrics are so sad and she just simply felt like a 'racehorse' at the time

I remember people disliking it because they had heard the demo first and liked it much better. The demo was better but the final version fit the album more.

Very well could be. At the minimum, I think it's about her wanting to retire from music. At least, that was always my interpretation.

After thoroughly falling in love with the demo of Ready, the recorded version was a disappointment.

She’s said in an interview years ago, when she was touring AIEW that she almost did. The weight gain that era, you could tell she didn’t gaf anymore.

It’s a great opinion! We have never had this many in depth, candid and honest interviews in such a short window of time. I want to see some performances of course but these podcasts beat a 6 minute tv segment in terms of filling my Kelly cup.

Alright, I have sat with the album long enough and can now confidently say Lighthouse and Magic are the best songs on the album. I’ll need FKOH to be released immediately to get the gorls poppin’ in the clubs for summer. Then Magic for a breezy late summer/early fall single that blows up on TikTok and weddings  and then Lighthouse in fall/winter to solidify AOTY. :clap3:

Here for FKOH being number 1 on the dance charts. :gaycat4:

I agree too. It took just a hot second for me to solidify Magic as #1 and Lighthouse as #2. Her two bests songs next to Sober and Maybe.
