Imagine scrapping one of the best songs Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter has ever recorded :biblio:

ALLIIGATOR TEARS

Personally, the only song I feel one could justifiably consider superfluous on Jimmy Carter is MY ROSE. But given that it's essentially an interlude, I think it works nicely to bridge the album's first two movements.

I'm glad we got CC in its entirety, and I wouldn't trade away any of the songs for more "GP interest", whatever that means. If I have one small nitpick, maybe she could've organized it  as a double album. Disc 1 is tracks 1-13 ending with ALLIIGATOR TEARS and then disc 2 starting off with SMOKE HOUR II

How could it be more palatable when you left off the multi-week #1 smash hit, that went mega-viral on Tiktok and saw her re-peak globally??

lol, I didn't realize I forgot THE. There are so many songs. :pig:

And the main critique from people is that it's too long and not as cohesive as REN. I personally love CC and think it's a great body of work and hate it's free falling on the charts and streaming is dead. A double album could have worked. Essentially none of it matters without promo but these was just meant for fun since we aren't really talking about theories or anything else.

Would a double disc really make sense in 2024 tho?

It's pointless with streaming and vinyls are broken up into 4 discs anyway.

It ojj no pay ever made sense when CD's were selling, nowadays it's literally pointless

oh I LOVE reading/listening to celebrity memoirs. I just don't feel like Bey is the kinda person who would write one on her own, but she also wouldn't want to have a ghostwriter. I just cannot imagine Bey spending months on a written-word memoir project about her life/reflections. it's too... straightforward (and vulnerable) for her.

that's why I think an interview would be so so ideal. like, imagine a sit-down interview where Blue Ivy interviews her... and Bey gets to fully control the edit. I think that'd be more her style.

I personally think one of the reasons she gatekeeps so much of her current work (FWT DVD, RWT Film etc) is exactly because she plans to do some sort of major career-spanning documentary / box-set release when she announces a retirement. The best way to ensure your legacy is to release all of that in one monumental wave of art. I just can't ever imagine her retiring, or accepting her place as a legacy act, so it's hard to know when that would be

We don't talk about the outro of bodyguard enough. The last minute on that song is so good!

Buckle Up for a chunky 2mio update for Texas tomorrow. I'm sure it'll re-enter the global charts somewhere inside the Top100

Why would that be the best way to ensure your legacy?

I don't believe the following theory, but I've seen some Hive speculate that 'Echoville' is actually the name of her own streaming platform that she's planning to launch, which will include all her content including music videos, documentaries, FWT, RWT, the acts visuals etc.

I wanted to comment and to manifest the increase in her streams, but as I began I received the email from her shop, so not today

I respectfully disagree.

I've long had an arguably controversial hot-take on her whole thing of keeping her content hostage. And it's what's made me make peace with things like the illusive FWT DVD situation etc.

Ultimately, it's part of what we speak a lot about here: Bey is simply event-izing herself and her output. Scarcity marketing IS a thing. Especially when it comes to luxury - which is exactly what Bey positions herself as. So, the less available you/your product are, the more people want it. It's not foolproof, but it is...a thing. And works.

Above all, though, is my stance that she's simply making a point to limit the availability of her output to avoid audience fatigue or them clocking on to the fact that every artist (Bey included) has a tried and true repertoire.

Sure, we (as stans) would lap every concert special she throws us.

But making the FWT avail right next to Homecoming next to RWT next to Roseland next to The Beyonce Experience etc starts to drive home some unavoidable facts:

* There's only so many "new" ways to perform core anthems like CIL, Baby Boy, Naughty Girl, DIL, Single Ladies etc. All staples on any Bey setlist but equally performances that will largely stay the same. Not necessarily something you want to drive home to your audience or even the GP.

* She's getting older. So while she's still unquestionably the Queen of the stage, there is a factual energy difference between what she could give even at Mrs Carter / FWT compared to now. Thinking beyond filling my stan cup and looking at it objectively (from her stance), I don't think this benefits the "Beyonce" she's trying to sell the girls in the here and now. Put simply, like she always does, I feel like she's 10 steps ahead in that she's carefully stage-managing how she ages before our eyes and ensuring she doesn't inadvertently put herself in a position where there's even the potential for side-by-sides of "what she used to give" compared to now.

Tying all of this together, most pertinent is the reality that our capitalist queen wants us at those tours. So there is literally no incentive to give it to us en masse in our living rooms when she stands to make wayyyy more $$$ having us perched in those seats at the stadium. Just like the RWT, she'll milk $$$ by having us in the stadium and then milk even more $$$ by flipping it into another money-making venture ala the limited edition movie.

I do think she'll start playing the legacy game way more when she's ready to wind down-down.

The amount she has in the vault will make her have SO many cards to play SO many come that time.

I can no longer hear Blackbiird without hearing the final "ARISEEEEEEE" they did in the performance. :dies:

If LJ becomes a hit, might she release a solo remix so I can finally stop skipping the second half?

I mean Homecoming and Renaissance are much better shows than Formation tour so I'm good with not having that footage.

the show I really want full footage of is Mrs Carter

We're half-way there. Only another 4 years to go. :suburban:
