Still catching up... the complaints about AR don't really make sense to me.  It's a 5 minute song, and the best parts are after the 3 minute mark, but they aren't as good without the buildup of the first two.

 

She'd basically have to spend at least 4 minutes of an 11~ minute performance on it

16 Carriages was underwhelming because she was uncomfortable on the horse and the pyrotechnics were laughable. But she clearly loves it, like My House.

I'm glad that she spent all year showcasing different songs through her ad campaigns. Ya Ya at the Olympics, My House for Verizon, Levii's Jeans for the Levi's ad, American Requiem to promote the halftime itself (even if she didn't perform it), Bodyguard for the election, Pure/Honey for Rabanne. Not many artists can go on stage performing all these deep cuts for the GP but Bey makes sure people know her albums. If any other artist had done this halftime it would've been a collection of their greatest hits but she doesn't need to rely on that.

 

For all the people that dislike CC they sure know it exists, she's made sure of that! And it continues to cause all this conversation.

Im a bit sad that in an alternate reality, this show wouldve been a Renaissance showcase

I wonder if she used the opportunity to show the GP how amazing CC can be live. Us big fans don't need that, but some people who like Bey but not Country music aren't as excited to see CC on tour. So maybe this was to give people a flavour of what is to come next year. 

When I watch other pop stars perform, I can make sense of the setlist and how they did it.  Like... tbh the field is pretty rudimentary.

 

With Bey, I'm always like how did you think of that??? It's laughable that people claim it's because she has a good team, because she's had several creatives over 20 years but the one team member that hasn't changed is her.

I didn't get the vibe she was uncomfortable on the horse.   Beyond that, I go back to what I said: AR doesn't hit the same unless you do the whole song.

 

16C was contextually important because it was about leaving home, but now she's back.  It wouldn't really make sense to have the Blackbird girls there to sing a song they aren't even on.  Might as well have had Post do II Most Wanted

The performance of My House was sooo good, I am low key sad it wasn't a part of RWT but hopefully she will include it on the next one!

I was also thinking that she might have also made the decision to sacrifice AR because it might potentially be the opening song for the tour. 

And I do agree the build up in AR is important still I can't help but feel a sense of loss because I wanted it so damn much but that's a me problem.

Like I said before, this halftime show was part of the whole Grammys campaign. She wants that AOTY. Act 3 is NOT coming or being announced on January 14th. Lol.
