I would say the album hype for this seems to be bigger than renny. Country is a little left field even for someone like bey. She barely tipped her toe in the country pond(lemonade) but this time around its an entire album centered around country. Coupled with the Album cover and Texas Hold Em smashing. I wouldn't say ppl are excited for more country music from her but they are very curious to know how she was able to put a country album together. Even I am very curious. Like how would she and post malone or even miley sound on a track? They are so out of the box for her.

Also I think the statement Bey is making with Cowboy Carter is a lot more obvious to the GP than what was going on with Renaissance. The average American automatically understands the uncomfortability of seeing a Black woman topping the country music space. It naturally causes conversation.

 

Renaissance, while clearly Pro-Black and Pro-Queer, doesn't automatically read like Bey is trying to disrupt something. The GP isn't territorial over dance the way they are over country. And while the album came amid an Anti-Trans and Anti-Queer panic spreading over the country, I think Bey's general understatedness this era meant a lot of people were just able to tune it out. I imagine a lot of the commentary Bey was trying to make is wrapped up in the visuals that we're still waiting for.

Where did I say that at? Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say she is only allowed to collab with black artists. Of the 3 collabs I was hearing about at the time, 2 of those are culture vultures in MY opinion (Miley - whose music I actually really like aside from that and Post Malone). And um yeah, I didn't like the sound of that......cause again, at the time I thought those were the ONLY collabs.

 

Edit: Let me just add this to make it clear that I'm EXCITED for the album regardless!! This is a fun and exciting rollout. My original post wasn't even that deep, hence my gif usage.

Thank you! I def didn't mean that she can't collab with white artists - in fact, I welcome it lmfao. She is one of the very few artists who is able to appeal to all demographics and I've always appreciated that about her. Which is really amazing when you consider that she has been able to do that while still staying so true to her own sound. I just didn't do my research and look at the full ~insider list which was my fault so I was like "unh unh" at first lol.
