I don't remember the exact first time I saw Bey, but DIL was the first album I ever bought when I was about 11. I also remember "Survivor" being referenced constantly when I was in high school, but it had been out for a few years at that point.

 

Whatever it was, I've been obsessed for 20+ years now and I won't ever stop.

Mine is seeing the Baby Boy video. I remember just bring fascinated by it and I knew she was a star right then. I would have been about 8 years old at the time.

Back in 2000 everyday when i got home from school i saw a TV commercial of a music compilation CD that featured a 'Say My Name' clip. Around that time 'Jumpin' Jumpin'' was also playing all the time on a local radio station and i had no idea it was the same group, then i finally watched both videos on MTV and got hooked. Became a fan officially when Survivor dropped tho.

Someone asked about first memory.......seeing No No No on the Box...yes I was born in the 80s.

My first memory was Survivor on the music channels when I was all of 4 years old. Literally among my first memories. I remained obsessed and stanned hard during DiL and actually Destiny Fulfilled even moreso.

 

4 was when I was becoming a teenager and really was aware of her every move (also thanks to the internet) so I feel that's when I levelled up in stanning n

I think it's seeing Survivor (or Independent Women) video on tv

 

The first conscious memory is listening to Crazy in Love through my uncle radio at my grandma's house - he borrowed me Dangerously in Love and I fell in love

I think I knew who DC was because I'm pretty sure my cousins had their albums but my first vivid Beyoncé memory is when Say My Name came out and the video was on tv. My entire family was watching and debating which girl was the baddest  then one of my cousins said something along these lines "Beyoncé, the one with the braids, is the leader and the best singer. Just look at how she's dominating the screen. No competition.” that made everybody focus more on Bey. I was going to add that my entire house stanned DC and Bey, but really it was the entire neighborhood, girls would hang out in groups of 3, wear matching clothes, there was a Beyoncé, a Kelly and a Michelle

This is why we need videos!!!
