It truly is. Her claimimg a male perspective (Cowboy and choosing the last name she got through marriage) is very powerful. Add to that the layers created through the connection to Texas and the "original" Carter family, it really unveils itself as such a witty and bold title. She did that

Thique has the most interesting production choices for me, Hit-Boy never misses when he works with her.

The Beyoncé haters are FUMING on MAGA Facebook. It's truly unreal. Every Beyoncé post, particularly about the creation of COWBOY CARTER has Mtn Dew-drinking, ketchup-smelling, Walmart-enthusiasts' distraught at the fact she's carving out her own space and discussion within country music. 
It truly is a testament that no matter how talented or creative you are, people will still disown or dislike you because you're different from them. A lot of people complaining that "TEXAS HOLD 'EM" is a 'caricature' of a country song, which I do believe was kind of Beyoncé's motive with the single, BUT it's funny seeing what I assume to be country music listeners complaining over the song but never complaining about the other country artists who clearly utilize hip-hop/pop/rock influences within their music. I mean, we all know the reasons why, it's just like aren't they tired? Or is Facebook going to keep their lazy hate alive? Either way, COWBOY CARTER is going to be groundbreaking and I cannot believe we're getting her Thursday @ 11pm CST

Ok, "MOVE" and especially "THIQUE" always hit different depending on the mood I'm in. I truly love how Ms. REN is still constantly evolving for me. There's truly not one song that's bad even though I have my few skips.

It's times like this (release week) that I really miss the OG fan accounts on early Twitter and insiders on the now-defunct Bey forums. 

 

Legion, which I love, is essentially just a promo page. 

 

But beyond that, we pretty much get next to nothing these days between Bey having her operation on lock and the crazy fake "insider" accounts that tweet out nonsense that never comes to fruition but stans still blindly engage with.

 

OG's will remember, back in the day there'd often be someone on the forum who knew a dancer...so we'd get tea on tours and upcoming performances. Or someone who worked at a record store and spilled when the CDs came in with bonus tracks. Or literally someone with ins at the label or her direct team, who will spill on her campaign strategy. And all the tea would largely be kept in-house among the stans. 

 

I do like aspects of the drop-out-of-the-sky surprise Bey has perfected in recent years, but deffo nostalgic about what once was. I'd say like B'Day era through to ST. Those who know what I mean, know.

Country has been in the dumps for a QUITE a while. The most cringe "bro country" songs are stinking up the airwaves, but BEYONCÉ is where they draw the line? Okay.

I think about the BeyHive boards all the time. It truly was a different experience as a stan back then(as well as a different sense of community).

I sometimes wander into the beyhive section on X and it's honestly too much. I get my social engagement fix on bey through this site and whatever viral tweets are circulating and that's about it. Otherwise I'm enjoying each new bey era in the silence and privacy of my own mind

It really was a different time and IMO was objectively way more enjoyable. Essentially like a whole ATRL dedicated to Bey.

 

From the outside looking in, the forums disappearing felt so random and unnecessary. And hella premature too. 

 

Total conjecture, but I kinda get the sense that some of the people working the forums didn't really know how to navigate the advent of social media. Because forums, by comparison, essentially felt like an extra step to access discourse and debate that was already taking place on the social media channels you're already on (Twitter, FB, etc at the time). 

 

IIRC the forums (or at least one of em) started toggling between viewable for all and only viewable for members. Then there was a lot of gatekeeping around tea spilling onto social media (see above), insiders departing etc.

 

For some reason, I think I also recall some of 'the mods moaning about the costs of keeping the forum up. The bigger the forum, the bigger the cost of running it. And I don't remember there being ads (ala what keeps ATRL and similar going).

 

Also, platforms like ATRL, LSA, PJ etc can always thrive because they centralize all the stan bases and are kinda driven by broad, wide-ranging discourse as well as more nuanced stan debates (Base threads).

 

Overal, though, it's a shame because I really think BeyHive Board in particular had the potential to be a mini-ATRL.
