I doubt it. The album is called Renaissance everywhere and not act i: Renaissance. If it were like that, streaming services would call it act i: Renaissance or it would be Renaissance: act i

MTE.

I remember being pretty vocal about the potential of this around the initial talk about the "acts".

Revisiting it now, I'd say:

PROS: it'll keep the Renaissance going, make for epic box set possibilities, and would present the ability to combine sales of the additional act/s and tour gross. It'd also make it a really easy avenue to still salvage this idea of the visuals, perhaps by combining the acts.

Bey's latter career has been about innovation and pushing the envelope and something like this would be left of what everyone else is doing. And left of anything she herself has done.

CONS: people have short attention spans these days, so product lifecycles are standardized to be shorter. Bey still banging on about a Renaissance two years later may not end up being the slay we think it would be.

Also, having literally studied communications/messaging, it's always vital to assume the audience have a blank slate of knowledge. Dropping a whole new album with a convoluted title like "Renaissance: Act 2 - Rodeo" could confuse people. Is it a deluxe? Is it a whole new album? Is it an add-on pack? If it's not 100% clear to 100% of the people, she could box herself into a scenario where Act 2 onwards don't do as well as well as people don't greet them with the same hype/buzz/excitement of a new album...even though it technically is.

Lastly, with Renaissance being as revered as it is...the critical success it is...the commercial success it is, surely bolting anything on risks denting that (if not received as well).

I say all of this to say, I'd actually still live for this. As long as it can be done in a semi-neat / clear-cut way lol.

Imagine if ACT II or III really is rock and she takes inspiration from Mad Max visuals.  I mean, the hair color is already there and it's a direct Tina reference.

For those wanting a Rock album, care to share what your commercial expectations would be?

I know that's not the be and end all for some ("art not charts"), but I often reflect on how much Rennie benefitted from the GP-pleasers like BMS, Cuff It, Alien etc. Both the album sales and tour sales.

I kind of take the opinion that any and every artist who is competing commercially ought to listen to the top 20/30 at any given time and ask themselves if the material they're about to put out fits in that mix.

Lemme be clear, that's not to say anything has to be a copy and paste or devoid of creativity or individuality, but let's not pretend radio and streamers don't have a certain... algorithm. Pushing the likes of Cuff It in a post-Levitating and post-Say So world felt pretty calculated and indicative of what's written above.

Some could say the same about a Country album (having the same issue as a Rock album), but I'd beg to differ. Country and Country-adjacent are "in" and melodically and sonically aren't far removed from what's currently proving successful on the charts.

If we'd thought she was doing a dance/house album would we have ever expected it to have a song like Cuff It? Like with all her projects the last decade, it'll be left of field but with R&B/pop sensibilities that bring mass appeal.

I don't expect her to be going fully Led Zeppelin on a rock album or fully Willie Nelson on a country album
