If Tems was interviewed for the September issue of Interview magazine, does that mean she got the cover too? Her interview and spread was released a few days ago.

Definitely have been to this rodeo enough times to not whip myself up into "expecting" anything on her birthday.

 

While it makes total sense in the obvious "on my b-day, here's a __ from me to you..." type of drop, I legit couldn't imagine her giving herself added work pressure on her day. 

 

Queenly as she is, she's never hidden how nervous/paranoid she gets when it comes to unveiling her work. The visuals have become a "thing" on top of it, so the stakes are higher than ever.

 

I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't slightly brace for some kind of crumb, but honestly finding with Bey that it's best to expect little before and be excited when she inevitably delivers.

I don't really get emotional like that, but Bey's message of thanks almost had me tearing up. Especially having been a DC fan from their first era.

 

What a life, what a talent!

 

Many of her idols are mine too, but the difference with her is that I was introduced to them as legends. Bey's journey many of us have lived out from day 1. We literally lived her incline to icon status in real-time. 

 

I'm so full and content with everything we've gotten from her to this point and the fact she's been able to receive her flowers when she's here to smell them. At the same time, the future feels so so so exciting. She's now in unprecedented territory because besides Madonna, all of her idols had been ravaged by the rigors of fame by her age. Yet, here she is unblemished with such a clear path to continued slayage.
